G_B_
Rajasthan: BJP back with a bang in civic elections After jolt in the assembly by-polls in September this year, the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has come back with a bang in the local body polls by claiming full majority in five out of six municipal corporations and taking lead in 18 municipal councils and 22 municipalities. Advertisement The polls for 46 local bodies in 24 districts were held on November 22, under the leadership of home minister Gulab Chand Kataria and BJP state president Ashok Parnami. The party had lost three out of four assembly seats where by-polls were held in September. But, with clear mandate in five municipal corporations – Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner, and Kota – the party is set to form its board and select a Mayor from among the elected councilors. http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/jaipur/bjp-back-with-a-bang-in-rajasthan-civic-polls/article1-1289905.aspx Rajasthan needs to be a focus state for the bjp. It should be joining the ranks of Guj and MP and BJP strongholds which can withstand political reversals. Ghelot got in based on infighting in the Raje and Shekawat factions. I hope Raje can now cement her position and rule for multiple terms. She needs to govern well.

G_B_
I don't think a record turnout in Kashmir does the bjp any favours pdp odds on to win this one if it continues

BeautifulGame
People’s sympathy with Jayalalithaa: survey In the current scenario, if Tamil Nadu has an election today, around 43 per cent of the people would vote for the AIADMK, 26 per cent for the DMK and 9 per cent for the BJP, according to a State-wide opinion poll. “People in Tamil Nadu are very sympathetic towards her [AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa]. In fact, they feel the State is not performing well in her absence,” Rajanayagam, Director of ‘People Studies’, said here on Saturday, releasing the findings of the poll conducted by the organisation The poll also showed that people were attracted towards the BJP though there was no Narendra Modi wave in the State. “The BJP is making inroads in the State and is emerging as the third largest party. The innovative schemes and the timely action on the fishermen issue have made it more visible.” The poll also had a question on administration and performance of the State. Around 58 per cent of the respondents said the administration was good during Ms. Jayalalitha’s stint. Only six per cent said it was poor. In the case of the Chief Minister, O. Panneerselvam, 35 per cent said his administration was poor. "People feel that administration is not up to the mark, and Mr. Panneerselvam needs to be empowered. Administration in the State is slackening is what they feel,” Mr. Rajanayagam said. Asked about actors aspiring to be politicians, he said only 17 per cent felt that Rajinikath would start a party, while 21 per cent felt Vijay would also float a party. “During interaction, people said they preferred seeing the two stars on screen than in the political theatre.” The poll was conducted in all 39 Lok Sabha constituencies with a sample size of around 3,320 people aged between 20 and 60, he said. BJP is gaining in TN by mainly from the erosion in the vote bank of parties like congress DMDK MDMK VC . In 2011 assembly elections DMDK vote share was nearly 10% but now woeful 3% according to this survey.Congress is even worse http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/tamil-nadu/peoples-sympathy-with-jayalalithaa-survey/article6626753.ece
