Did Kejriwal fought an election ever before he defeated Sheila? Nope. You have to admit bringing Bedi was a good move to counter AAP. Don't bring in hindsight each time. Of course, with such seats, internal sabotage looks very likely. However, the BJP cadre were very motivated on election day, they outnumbered AAP workers and were very optimistic. So the internal wrongdoings will take some more time to be revealed.
Bedi move backfired. She certainly was one of the reasons of the loss. In fact the drubbing that they got could be a blessing in disguise for the bjp

Imo, Delhi elections defeat were a combination of factors. Nothing major but just a very good combination. As the BJP vote share itself hadn't shrink so this case was more about a well supported AAP. The paid media propaganda and their their vote appeal made for AAP certainly helped. And then the support of MIM and similar parties contributed greatly to the tactical voting. Also, Delhi is a small state in size so such calculations worked but larger states like Bihar, things will be different. BJP certainly needs to learn from it and refine their strategy. They need to first train their spokepersons and media cell, they have been in defensive mode for some time. Like hit jobs (eg. suit controversy) by our mainstream media needs to be addressed aggressively and in-timely manner.

If age was such a factor, Rahul Gandhi would be winning elections. And remember, this is the same Kejriwal who quit from CM post and challenged Modi. That was not fearless, but selfish and stupidity from him. Of course, Bedi has lost but that doesn't end her political career. Kejriwal is a good example from political suicide to again becoming CM. Of course, you are right that their should be new faces added and Nupur Sharma certainly impressed me. She was the one who was challenging Kejriwal and looked good in her communication.
Age is not the only criteria. Its one metric. Nobody said age determines everything. I am all for accommodating Bedi via the rajya sabha. I think her services will benefit the nation and the BJP in central government. She may not have worked out in Delhi but she will add to the BJP votes in the national elections. Middle class for sure. I too was impressed by Nupur Sharma. This is what i mean. She maybe a bit too young atm. But somebody who is young a good orator and has the vision for Delhi.

Did anybody vote for AAP for anti-Bedi reasons? If anything, Bedi galvanized voters and brought a face to BJP's ordinary campaign. Bedi lost but it was not a incorrect move at all. Don't be stupid by using hindsight. And I wouldn't call it a proper drubbing when the vote shares weren't affected much. But yes, it's now an opportunity for BJP to tweak their strategy and not be complacent for upcoming elections.

Now, that's something I disagree. BJP must also be careful between loyal workers and new party members. It's a delicate balance but a rajya sabha seat for Bedi would push the limit imo. I think irrespective of the face of Delhi BJP, the results wouldn't have changed. Ground level, like Kejriwal was offering freebies to the public and BJP didn't know how to tackle it. They should have aggressively questioned his planning, and this is why I said BJP needs to train their spokesperson better. They allowed Kejriwal a free run while they themselves faced tough questioning and hit jobs from our media. And if BJP thought getting Shazia will help them gain Muslim votes, they were very wrong. Muslims will never vote for them as Mullahs will not allow it. That's our secularism where religious groups openly advocate for certain political parties and nobody questions them.

Well, they have already done that. Somebody like Anand Geete was a shiv sena member for 20 plus years. Joins the BJP online and within 5 minutes is a rail minister which is a pretty big portfolio. Its been done so many times by the BJP in the recent past. A rajya sabha ticket is not that big a deal compared to say being CM. The BJP should add about 20-25 seats in the rajya sabha in the coming years. I am sure they can afford to spare one seat. Agree that despite the face i guess the results would not have changed. Probably the margins. What does worry me is that there has not been any major headway in the BJP's vote share in Delhi since 1998. Its stuck in the 30s. A new face may not topple Kejriwal but there needs to be some progress in party building in the state. Agree on Shazia. I have no idea why she was brought in. Maybe rather than the Muslim vote she was brought in to detoxify the BJP in the eyes of many hindus. Its been done by the convervative party in the uk offering hindus tickets in safe all white area seats. Detoxifies their brand in the media. It worked in 2010 in the UK. I am not sure she was brought in for the muslim votes. I do know a few people in Mumbai who voted for the BJP who are Hindus because they thought BJP had become more inclusive in terms of accepting minorities.

It's Sursh Prabhu, and he had very good track record in last NDA govt. So SS should have allowed him to become a minister and asked for another seat. Let us not politicize an appointment of good worker. It's SS which created all the ruckus before Maha elections. If they agree to give BJP bit more than last elections the current problem shouldn't have happened. How can any one forget the non stop attack on Modi by SS leaders? If Only BJP went alone 1 month before elections should have got comfortable majority.

sorry yes it is prabhu....the point about him not being a BJP member stands. Yes he is very good. The point is that he was not a BJP worker/member. Keep in mind Bal T gave him a really safe Sena seat in Konkan which he managed to lose to the NCP. Thats why he was out of favour. About attacks. Paswan in Bihar has said a lot worse about Modi and even quit the NDA. Yet he is back and welcomed with open arms and offered a cabinet post. **** happens. This one month point also does not stand. You are assuming that Pawar would have broken up with the Congress had the BJP gone alone. Together NCP + Congress >>>> BJP. You can check the vote shares. There is a 8-9% difference. No doubt even the sena would have been washed out. You cannot predict with certainty what would or would not happen when the BJP got about 28% of the vote share in a 4 way contest.

1.Point doesn't stands because SS is not ready to compromise even in important matters like governance. 2.Paswan made comments when he is not in NDA, SS guys made comments when alliance was not yet broken and they are making comments even now. 3.We don't know.

It's a delicate balance. Birender Singh and Prabhu have their own value and it adds a lot for BJP immediately. Bedi is a different case, and the infighting between Delhi BJP needs to controlled so Bedi in Rajya Sabha won't be the right thing for some time being. Back to Delhi elections, it's very important for BJP to understand the right reasons. If they are to listen media, they will get very wrong conclusions. The media is determined to demoralize the party cadre and call it an end for BJP politically. They will need to ignore such messages and get back to the basics. The basic consists on showing the development work visibility on the ground and be able to defend itself in a swift manner from any hit jobs done by our media

not really. In Maharashtra Haryana especially SC heavily voted for the BJP. In UP as well the BJP ate into the BSP vote. Amit shah has achieved major inroads into that community. In the lok sabha polls 40% of the SC community voted for the NDA in Bihar. Obviously this is a great chance to make it 80% and sweep that segment. But its not fair to say the SC community does not vote for the BJP. In some states they do in other states they dont. In Rajasthan Jharkhand MP and Gujarat for example the BJP is heavily reliant on the OBC vote. It forms their core. In maharashtra haryana bihar and UP SC communities have in the past and present heavily voted for the BJP. In Karnataka its lingayat + upper castes. So it differs from state to state who votes for the BJP. In UP and Bihar whenever the BJP have been in in power the SC community have voted for them. In UP and Bihar especially in the presence of OBC based parties like the Yadavs and Kumris for example the dynamics are different.
They are historically not known for voting to the BJP. In western UP every Hindu community, including scheduled castr voted for bjp because SC community suffered a lot in muzzafarnagar violence and those voted for Mayawati saw BJP as their savior. In Bihar. Bjp need sc community 's support.

1. How much compromise do you want? You dont want to give them any power. Yet you want them to back you. So you do any good thing the BJP gains. Bad things happen the Sena gets taken down with the BJP. Which major political party will accept that? It makes 0 political sense. So either do without them or give them power over the portfolios you agreed to share with them. You cannot have this half and half approach. Same can be said about portfolios with BJP Ministers like Tawde. Let him do his job. No need for Phadnavis to run interference all the time. 2. Actually he made the comments when he was part of the NDA central government. Later he quit and called Modi much worse than anything the Sena has said. All the sena has said is Modi is responsible for the Delhi debatable. Which he is. Anybody can see that. Its not as if the Sena is saying something others dont know. Even the SAD has come out and said arrogance cost the BJP. I actually read the Saamna article in Marathi. The tone was more of friendly advise rather than out and out critic. Keep in mind even the Sena had earlier admitted the Modi wave and acknowledged it when results came out for Jharkhand and JnK 3. So you back my point that BJP going alone a month earlier is an unknown entity. I dont know why you brought that up.

The Sc community have voted for the BJP in sporadic patches. Does not mean they have not voted for the BJP before. The BJP's rise in UP in the 90s was on the back of sections of SC voters. Yes the BJP need SC community support in Bihar. They have voted for them in the lok sabha and the aim should be to vote for them in the assembly.

The news for Srirangam in TN by poll is bad for the BJP they will barely get 5% of the popular vote. They have been crushed based on initial reports. In Bongoan WB its quite close. But Trinamool is expected to pull through. Regardless of what happens the BJP is expected to see a rise in vote share. Thats what i am reading from feedback on twitter. Not sure on reliability.

BJP should never have contested the by election in Srirangam . BJP are not even in the frame in campaigning whereas almost every MLA/Minister for DMK and ADMK are camped in SriRangam .Both Jaya and Stalin have this election their image issue . Any vote BJP gets will be their core base or Modi factor not becoz of campaigning . It won't matter much in the grander scheme for 2016 elections as even the DMK candidate is unlikely to get deposit
