BJP should never have formed govt with these goons. As corrupt as NCP is' date= they could have been controlled by strict monitoring from the BJP central leadership.....these hooligans from SS should be in opposition for as long as it takes to completely break their party or until they change for the better.
That idea has a big obstacle in the form of Mohan Bhagwat. Modi allies with Pawar and the RSS will rebel against him. So let me shoot that idea down right there. Bhagwat has anintense hated for Pawar. Has been the case for more than 30 years. If you notice the Sena and Uddhav mode of attack, they have constantly backed up Bhagwat (latest against his statements v Mother Teresa). They have attacked the BJP government. There is a method to the Uddhav madness. Uddhav knows he will be buffered provided he is in the good books of the RSS. Recently he even invited many RSS karyakartas to his house.

Thakarey would never be CM. Even if he got 288 seats..... Maybe you need to look into the Sena before commenting. Just a thought.
I know you have a soft spot for SS but you can't deny he was hungry for CM post in 2014 state elections. There isn't anything wrong with personal ambition so no need for you to be so defensive.

This post I would agree. There is still bond between them.

No Thakareys will ever be CM. Not Rajesh not Uddhav and not Aditya. This has nothing to do with my soft spot. They are not even MLCs in maharashtra upper house when they could have easily been so. . Have never been or ever will be. Its not how they function. This is purely a case of looking at the facts. Sentiments dont even come into it.

Because the form of Hindutva followed by the sena is closer to that preferred by Bhagwat. Secondly lets assume the RSS gives the NCP BJP tie up its blessing (A) The minorities will dump the NCP next election. Especially with the MIM lucking around thats automatically a 2-3% hit in their vote share. (B) The BJP have initiated a probe into the NCP leaders like Ajit Pawar for massive irrigation scam in viderbha. The BJP got 44/62 seats in that region because of their plank to bring the NCP to justice. They will automatically give up 20 seats to the congress in that region if they go with the NCP. While i doubt the Sena will gain from this tie up, but you will bolster the Congress in the state. Not something you want to do. With the death of RR Patil the NCP is the weakest party in maharashtra. Their members are jumping ship even to the congress. Tells you how bad a shape they are in. Maharashtra is not UP/Bihar where somebody like Paswan can just jump ship and its fine. There is a strong line between left wing and right wing. A sena congress alliance would not work. An sena ncp alliance would not work and neither will a BJP NCP alliance. There are only two alliances Sena-BJP and NCP-Congress. Its either that or fight alone.

The reasons why Uddhav is hitting out. (a) Firstly it was considered right that the junior partner (who got less seats) would get deputy CM and home ministries. Its a tradition for the last 20 years. BJP broke that. Industries and Maharashtra state transport were the only two big ministries they got. Of the ministries provided to the Sena the BJP has not allowed them to function and has stripped all power from them. The MLA's in the Sena have realised there is no point being in power when you dont get anything to do. Added to that the Sena was expecting 2 seats in the central cabinet. They were pissed off when they got 1 cabinet berth when SAD with 4 seats got 1 berth as well. The murmurs of discontent spread from that point. Many sainiks felt it was not right that a party with 20 seats who was the oldest ally of the BJP did not get the respect they deserved. Uddhav Thakarey is being egged on by his MLA's they have realised there is no point in defecting to the BJP when you wont even be able to get power. (b) Weakness at the heart of the BJP government. Its an open secret that Khadse hates Phadnavis who he looks down upon as his junior. There is severe infighting within the BJP itself in the state. UT is making hay while this happens. This is an internal matter for the BJP and can be solved by ceeding home ministry which Phadnavis holds to Khadse. © The samnaa newspaper. A lot of outsiders who are not familiar with Maharashtra politics dont understand the relation between Samnaa and the government. Even when Manohar Joshi was the CM from the sena and the MLA from Dadar in Mumbai where Matoshree is ( Headquarters of the sena) Balasaheb Thakarey was critical of his own government. The idea is to make the Thakareys pure to the masses and absolve them of the sins of the government. This was actually copied from the RSS playbook. If you notice even the RSS are against the land reform bill. The samna also has a circulation of 2-3 million. It provided income to the sena and UT has realised he needs to diversify his income base if he loses the BMC. He is therefore spicing things up. People also need to back away from the MSM. The actions on the ground are different. The Sena for example did not field a candidate in Mukhed by poll and the BJP is going to following suit in Vandre East (Bandra East). Things are certainly not as bad as people make out to be. Give the Sena some ministries at centre and the state with real power and they will shut up. The present situation in Maharashtra is the BJP has not give its junior allies who brought in 5-6% of the popular vote anything. Its not just the sena. Ramdas Athavle too is deeply unhappy with the conduct of the BJP. They promised him a cabinet berth but that has yet to come. http://www.asianage.com/mumbai/smaller-allies-government-insist-cabinet-inclusion-792 All 4 of the allies of the BJP in maharashtra have been bad mouthing them. Only difference is MSM dont concentrate on the smaller three.

Punjab MC polls: SAD-BJP alliance wins, but barely

Voters gave a split verdict in Mohali (SAS Nagar), while in Phagwara, perceived to be the BJP citadel, the alliance reached the halfway mark, one short of a simple majority. Of the 298 wards in six MCs, the BJP bagged the highest number at 85, the SAD got 80 and the Congress stood third with 67. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) won two seats, both in Phagwara. However, in what could be seen as disillusionment among urban voters not only with the ruling alliance but also with the opposition Congress, Independents won 64 wards. The impressive show by Independents, majority of them being party rebels, assumes significance as the SAD-BJP as well as the Congress had fielded their candidates from all the MC wards on their symbols.
http://www.hindustantimes.com/chandigarh/punjab-corporation-polls-sad-bjp-alliance-wins-but-barely/article1-1321060.aspx The high degree of independents winning (even if they are rebels from the major parties) worries me. This implies in urban areas of Punjab mainstream political parties are becoming toxic. The BJP has performed strongly in the rural and urban areas where they have improved their tally and now have more seats than the Congress in civic government of the state. Both the BJP and SAD have made their respective points to each other. With the high degree of independents and an AAP challenge in 2017 it makes sense that both stick together. BJP should negotiate for 30 seats up from 23 and they need to demand some rural areas from the SAD as they are taking the risk battling in highly volatile urban areas. There is no point if BJP get all urban seats. They are taking all the risk while the SAD are getting the cushy seats. Atleast 10 of those seats out of 30 need to come from rural areas where the SAD have presence.

BJP, MGP, GVP, Avertano, Benjamin form ZP poll alliance

PANAJI: After hectic rounds of negotiation over the last few days, a multi-party alliance comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Goa Vikas Party (GVP) and two independent MLAs was finalized on Thursday for the zilla panchayat (ZP) polls and it is likely to be officially announced on Friday. BJP senior leaders said that the BJP, the "big brother" in the alliance, will contest 34 ZP seats, MGP will contest nine seats while five seats will be given to the GVP and one seat each for fisheries minister AvertanoA senior BJP leader said that all parties have agreed to the seat-sharing formula. According to BJP think-tank members, all coalition partners of the government will contest ZP seats in their respective assembly constituencies. "It has been agreed that no one will contest in coalition partner constituencies," the senior leader said. The BJP will contest 34 seats in BJP-ruled constituencies, and some Congress-ruled constituencies. MGP will contest in nine seats where they have sitting MLAs and a few other constituencies where they had contested and lost in the 2012 assembly polls. GVP will contest in five seats in South Goa and one seat each has been allotted to two independents, who are supporting the BJP coalition government in the state. MGP, in its proposal submitted to the BJP, had demanded that it should contest 19 seats in the ZP elections, but was open to negotiation. A BJP senior leader said that defence minister Manohar Parrikar, Parsekar, BJP state unit president Vinay Tendulkar, MGP president Pandurang 'Deepak' Dhavlikar, PWD minister Ramkrishna 'Sudin' Dhavalikar, GVP supremo Francisco 'Mickky' Pacheco and others would be present to announce the alliance for the ZP polls. The 'No alliance with MGP' attitude of the party legislators changed two days ago, after the top leadership went to Delhi for deliberations on the Furtado and Velim MLA Benjamin Silva (independent). The marathon meeting between BJP-MGP-GVP continued on Thursday. Parsekar said that he wants to have an alliance for the ZP polls. "I am hopeful of an alliance and the decision will be announced on Friday," Parsekar added. As wrong signals would go out and damage the BJP's image further for not respecting the coalition dharma, the BJP central leaders recommended that the party should go ahead with the alliance with MGP for the ZP polls. Speaking to TOI, Pacheco said "GVP has got seven seats. There cannot be independent candidates contesting as Congress is supporting independent candidates."
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/BJP-MGP-GVP-Avertano-Benjamin-form-ZP-poll-alliance/articleshow/46388862.cms shoring up in Goa. Does this represent a new line of thinking from the BJP with respect to allies?

Mizoram, BJP registers first win in state

Of the 81 village councils for which elections were held on Wednesday and for which counting was being wrapped up Thursday, the Congress won enough votes to form a majority in 62 VCs (including 10 it won without contest), the BJP in 5, Independents in 3 and the state’s main opposition MNF in 2.
http://indianexpress.com/article/india/politics/congress-sweeps-rural-body-polls-in-mizoram-bjp-registers-first-win-in-state/ Fun times for the BJP. Despite the loss in Delhi (which should not be overlooked , lessons need to be learnt) there are green shoots for the BJP, especially in the east of the country. Assam and now Mizoram (from a 0 base) This is what i mean that the BJP supporters should not panic. There were always going to be setbacks but the underlying trend is very much positive. Mizoram does not matter. But it represent a new frontier.

no idea on that. As of now speculation is about ministries. It will become clear what the common minimum program is. One thing the BJP was not ready to let go of was letting the Pandits back in the valley or letting them pick up compensation and reservation in terms of jobs etc. PDP seems to have accepted this. BJP seems to to have agreed to the demand of the PDP that talks for lasting peace resume with moderate plank of the hurriyat and pakistan. BJP seems to have accepted this.

SAD, BJP to have three mayors each in Punjab

A day after sweeping the civic polls, ruling SAD-BJP alliance have decided to nominate three mayors each for the six Municipal Corporations (MCs) of Punjab. Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma said the mayors for Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Phagwara Municipal Corporations will be from the saffron party, while SAD's mayor will be from Mohali, Bathinda and Moga. On the victory of the alliance in the civic polls, Sharma said that the people of the state had voted for development, peace and communal harmony. He said that "by and large the Akali-BJP alliance had worked well except a couple of places, including Tarn Tarn". Sharma said that both the parties had tried their best at all the levels to resolve differences at Tarn Taran, but it failed. Ahead of civic polls, some Akali activists allegedly thrashed BJP's Cabinet minister Anil Joshi's younger brother Raja at Tarn Taran over filing of nominations for the wards. The elections were held for a total of 300 Wards in the six Municipal Corporations. Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara, Pathankot, Mohali and Moga had 50 Wards each. The SAD-BJP alliance won four of the six Municipal Corporation seats.

This Ram Maddhav is emerging as bit of a star in the RSS and BJP ranks... Modi needs to be careful so as to not cut off Ven. Naidu's wings. I dread these RSS implants.

I just loved the way Venkaiah Naidu trolled the Congis by picking on their weakest link. "Abhi tak jo hua, jo galtiyan hua wo sweekar karna, aatma chintan karna, yahan nahi kar paaye to door jake wahan karna" :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:

The North-East frontier will only be breached once the missionary influence is drastically reduced. Will easy take 15+ years for that to happen.

I think it will alternate. First 3 years, PDP CM with BJP getting the deputy CM and most important portfolios. Role reversal for the second half.
