G_B_ Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 with regards to media. More than even TV i think you need to move into the radio sphere. It has a way more reach than even the Tv channels in India. What a media channels and any media outlet does is act as a revenue raising arm. The shiv sena first started samnaa as a means to spread the word. But samna on its own is generating something to the tune of 500 crore. Any builder wants anything passed in Mumbai. He effectively pays the sena crores in terms of publishing advertisements in the samna. It is an effective way to make money without any issue of bribery for the party. This is exactly why the Thakareys despite taking plenty of kickbacks have never been involved in any corruption scam.
BeautifulGame Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Radio has reach ? Is AIR still popular in North India ? Its years I have seen anyone using a Radio for AIR anywhere .Maybe FM has decent reach but doubt anyone really clings on to Radio nowadays
jalebi_bhai Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Read this - Modi's utilitarian change in media engagement http://wap.business-standard.com/article/opinion/a-k-bhattacharya-a-utilitarian-change-in-approach-115051201520_1.html Some fair points there but I disagree with her calling joint sessions as an arrogant method for bringing forth reforms. Joint sessions are a constitutional provision to pass legislature and as far as I know, using constitutional provisions is not arrogance. Maybe an ordinance could be considered arrogant but again, it is a constitutional provision.

G_B_ Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 DMDK Upset with BJP's AIADMK Tilt CHENNAI:The DMDK, an ally of the BJP, is upset with its partner as it feels the latter is tilting towards the AIADMK and has abandoned its commitment to an alternative front in Tamil Nadu. One of the senior functionaries, on condition of anonymity, said even when the Central leaders of the BJP were unconcerned about the third front in the State, the State leaders Pon Radhakrishnan and Tamilisai Soundarrajan used to reaffirm their commitment to the alternative alliance, even though there were questions over the leadership of the grouping and its chief ministerial candidate. But, now even the State leaders have started praising and supporting the AIADMK, which is considered the principal rival by the DMDK, the funcionary rued. “Their latest remarks and actions have triggered apprehensions if the BJP had abandoned their plans for an alternative front and moving closer to the AIADMK,†he said. Only recently, the DMDK leader Vijayakant met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP ministers at New Delhi, which gave the impression that the DMDK had cemented its ties with the national ally. After leading a delegation of opposition leaders, Vijayakant’s personal meeting with the BJP leaders, including the Prime Minister, raised doubts among the other opposition leaders that he was using the occasion to raise his bargaining capacity with the BJP. Prior to Vijayakant’s meeting with the Prime Minister, the assertion of Tamilisai Soundarrajan that BJP would lead the front led to problems in the alliance. However, Tamilisai toned down her rhetoric immediately and said the BJP front would capture power in Tamil Nadu. However, DMDK functionaries are restless now as they feel that the BJP leaders in the State are not keen in retaining their ties with Captain for the forthcoming Assembly elections and had other plans in their mind. The relationship between the two parties had seen many ups and downs ever since it was formed for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The DMDK, which was persuaded to join the front, was given 14 seats to confirm their status as the leader of the alliance. But, problems had cropped up in the alliance after the Parliament elections. While Vaiko’s MDMK quit the NDA, the PMK announced former Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss as its CM candidate. http://www.newindianexpress.com/states/tamil_nadu/DMDK-Upset-with-BJPs-AIADMK-Tilt/2015/05/15/article2815003.ece
someone Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 BJP needs to continue to support Smriti Irani. She is excellent orator and somebody who can finish off Rahul Gandhi. Congress knows that, and are nervous about it, thus their over-aggression campaign against her and supported by paid media also. In 2014, Rahul got lucky but in 2019, if Smriti is there, she could well win it at Amethi.

Their local leaders like Tamilisai etc are not well known in the state and at the same time the BJP does not have the ground level infra to compensate. Neither does the RSS. I do believe on its own the DMDK will poll more than the BJP. A lot of people voted for Modi. State issues are different from national. Obviously you cant blame him to be honest. the DMK is in such dire straits the way i see it they will bend to his demands even if the BJP form alliance with the ADMK. ITs going to be a multiple party pan DMK alliance. Maybe even 7-8 parties.

If that money goes into mayawatis back pocket then its pretty much the end of the BSP. If that money goes into the keeping the cadre well paid then its not such a bad strategy. Ie she is bolstering her infra. Maybe the Mayawati strategy is her at the top and the cadre at the bottom with nothing in the middle.....or maybe this is just about flushing deadwood and bringing up youth through the ranks. If the deadwood want to stay they have to pay for it... Only time will tell...... One thing is clear the SC community is no long shy of the BJP.

If you've followed her statements, you'll realize. Did take a bullet for the party, credit for that, but she is out of her depth in the HRD ministry. Congress will literally bribe people to vote for Pappu.

Its the perception of a tough fight which is going to move attention from the national campaign. Re the HRD, Modi ceded a big chunk of that that ministry to the RSS. Irani was just the figurehead. Rumour has it that Ram Madhav has a big say in the goings on.

Indian education has been hijacked by the Left for decades.
G_B_ Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Membership drive comes in handy for BJP The just-concluded membership drive and the ongoing campaign to visit the doorsteps of newly enrolled members have come in handy for the principal Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party in preparing its cadre for the polls. The party’s door-to-door campaign, launched on May 1 to familiarise the newly enrolled members with the party ideology, has doubled up as the panchayat poll campaign in rural areas. At all the poll preparation meetings, BJP leaders have been declaring that the elections to these grass-roots-level bodies are the first step towards returning to power in the State. It is in this context that the party is following a systematically laid out plan for monitoring the poll preparations of its cadre. Apart from choosing local important leaders as in-charge persons for deciding poll-related issues, the party has also formed 21 teams that have been touring districts from May 8. The BJP is set to complete the first round of the State tour by its leaders, including national vice-president B.S. Yeddyurappa, within a few days. Party workers are also trying to create awareness among rural voters about the achievements made in the panchayat raj institutions during the BJP regime. This includes increasing reservation quota for women and hike in honorarium for members and presiding officers, besides the schemes taken up by the Centre in rural areas. http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/karnataka/membership-drive-comes-in-handy-for-bjp/article7211074.ece

Most probably the money goes to Mayawati - that's why most of the leaders left. They were neither getting their cut from the party nor could they make much money as party is out of power. There are hardly any new leaders in BSP because whenever anyone seems to become too big, Mayawati gets insecure and he is cut to size.

There are hardly any new leaders in BSP because whenever anyone seems to become too big, Mayawati gets insecure and he is cut to size. thats the problem with most regional parties. I guess thats where Maharashtra is different. The shiv sena has the BMC (read construction) and multiple municipal corporations surrounding mumbai etc which they run and fund all their needs. The NCP has Pune metropolitan area and navi mumbai along with multiple sugar cooperatives. So both regional parties of Maharashtra have major source of income irrespective of them being in power or not. There has not been a force such that all of maharashtra be it at state of municipal/zilla parishad level has been one party. By the looks of it in states like WB TN and UP once you are out you are out everywhere. There is no fall back position. The CPM are not even in at panchayat level, let alone municipal in WB. If you sit out of power for a long time (read 2 terms) you are close to being finished.
Sachin=GOD Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 thats the problem with most regional parties. There were some strong second rung leaders in BSP earlier but since losing in 2012 Mayawati has become more paranoid and is punishing leaders for small mistakes even as the party keeps losing. Not a very good place to be at the moment.
