bulbul Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Wov' date=' I dont want to debate with you when you can make a distinction between an educational institution and a military organization..For your info: Xaviers is not govt college, it is managed by a trust which is private. Just because they have got some funds from government , doesnt mean they have lost the right to own their views..[/quote'] So a Govt institute head cannot make any politcial comment but private institute head can air his views right?
urbestfriend Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 But don't he have a personal opinion which is communal which is not? otherwise isn't it wrong information to provide? Absolutely..You are free to have your own views, who is preventing you from airing your views.
bulbul Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Absolutely..You are free to have your own views' date=' who is preventing you from airing your views.[/quote'] :hmmmm2: Where did i came into picture? this is about Principal's principle. Also where did debate came into pciture?
urbestfriend Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 whats wrong is that he used the official email as the principal of the college & he wrote it just before elections and probably failed to disclose his association with the UPA govt What do you mean by official email? He has already clarified that he has sent that mail in his personal capacity. Why not before election? He has no association with UPA in his personal capacity..So no question of disclosing it.
urbestfriend Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 :hmmmm2: Where did i came into picture? this is about Principal's principle. Also where did debate came into pciture? Didnt get you? All I am defending is his right to air his view, whether right or wrong..I dont understand all the fuss created by BJP supporters..! Disagree with his views, but dont bring some stupid logic to say he has not rights morally or legally to air his views.
diga Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 What do you mean by official email? He has already clarified that he has sent that mail in his personal capacity. Why not before election? He has no association with UPA in his personal capacity..So no question of disclosing it. Is that so? Would you believe if someone from the BJP associated with Sangh Parivar had done the same?
urbestfriend Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Is that so? Would you believe if someone from the BJP associated with Sangh Parivar had done the same? It is just that I wouldn't make a big issue if a sanghi sends out an email to all the RSS members , even if RSS is partially funded by government.

Also it's not his reasearch he is quoting other people,so who verifies the accuracy? if he is a ex-principal i dont care, but when you are in responsible position he should be careful what he is preaching to students. How can he say FSB is good for country, does he have any documents to prove this claim? who is communal, any proof to show for what he is saying? just because he can have personal view doesnt mean he can spread false infromation in a responsible position. So Govt owned college principla have no rights to air his views, eventhough it may be more balanced than the Frazer?

All you are blabbering is a teacher must be neutral and should not air his political view..May be this will be the state in Modi's rule, but at least I dont think it is ethically or legally wrong to air political affiliations being a teacher. I say government or private, educational institutions should not be curtailed in any which way to air their political views as long as it is not anti-national. For ex: Osmania university( A gove university) was the hotbed for Telangana movement where teachers and students openly supported. Do you go after them?
diga Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 It is just that I wouldn't make a big issue if a sanghi sends out an email to all the RSS members ' date=' even if RSS is partially funded by government.[/quote'] how you twist words... In this case not all college students support the political views of the principal Now tell us what if a Sanghi Principal sends a similar email to his students supporting NDA?

In this case not all college students support the political views of the principal Now tell us what if a Sanghi Principal sends a similar email to his students supporting NDA? It may not be through email, but dont pretend as if it has not happened...Most RSS owned schools openly support BJP.. and I am absolutely fine with it as long as they dont go after students with opposing views and there is respect for different view points.

Did they told they will walk out of elections if demands are not met? So Frazer can comment anythign but BJP shouldnt ask questions or comments :two_thumbs_up:

Would he have received those mail ids had he not been the principal ?
Mariyam Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Who cares? Xaviers is full of yuppie wannabes Why do you say so? For a non Christian general category student getting into liberal Arts in Xaviers is extremely difficult. Its simply isn't an easy place to secure admission into. Arguably the best college in Mumbai for liberal arts. Have a look at the alumni list. Or the faculty over the years. Do you feel that all Arts students are "yuppie wannabes" or is this privilege reserved only for Xavierites?
