Sidhu arrived in Amritsar the next day after voting. If he had campaigned for Jaitley then he could have won.

Sidhu's wife said that Jaitleys campaign chief Majethia of the Akali didnt want Sidhu hence Sidhu wasnt there.The feel was that Sidhu had a clean image and was popular as he spoke againist Akalis and Akalis blocked his projects.
G_B_ Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 i feel people are being too hard on arun jaitley. politically he was the master strategist behind the bjp win in karnatka. also handled the delhi civic polls wins. as far as acrually getting things done he was the leader of opposition in the rajya sabha. various bills have been passed with amendments suggested by him. he needs to be in power to introduce stuff right? some totally naive comments on thid thread. the truth is the people of amritsar had the chance to elect somebody who had a great chance of being zn important part.of the government. indtead they have amrinder who may have to vacate his seat if he becomes the cm of punjab.

Yeah. People are definitely thinking too much into one loss. It was his first election and that too was against such a formidable opponent in a state where the ruling govt Is no longer popular so it's no big deal if he lost. His position within the BJP will not change because of the loss.

Not all good visionaries will also be able to be mass leaders. Jaitley is one of them. He will definitely be an asset to the cabinet, not just his ministry, but also in an advisory capacity on other government decisions.
