No He has done things to be considered for T20/odis. Not for Tests.

IPL performance should get Uthappa in T20 and ODI team certainly, however using IPL being played in Indian conditions to select test openers for the tour of England would be a blunder selection strategy. Ajinkya has toured England before and he will get preference imo. iirc , Ajinkya is now a middle order batsman in test format as he batted at 4 or 5 on our tour of South Africa. Murali Vijay is more suspect against swing than Ajinkya because he has tendency to let the ball pass which ultimately ends up castling the stumps or traps him LBW. Abhinav Mukund has to wait for his time because he is not yet ready for this level. Shikhar Dhawan probably flopped in NZL and SA ? If that's correct then his place is up for grabs as well. The options are not that good for the opening spot. I really can't come up with names who will certainly do well in those conditions.

Uthappa's performance in ranji and duleep trophy this year has also been very good. So its not just IPL. Earlier his technique was vulnerable against moving ball. But it has improved a lot now under amre. First choice will be dhawan and vijay. But uthappa can be backup opener. kl rahul and jiwanjot can be in the A-tour to aus i guess. I found mukund's technique to be very loose and the worst thing we can do is to go back to gambhir as opener in eng and aus.

Vijay Dhawan. Vijay was magnificent in RSA while Dhawan rocked in NZ. They need to be given more chances.

The real problem is rohit & dhoni onwards are sitting ducks. Whats the point of being 250/4 when we get a.o for 280.Openers,pujara,kohli,rahane have been quite good.
