Bumper Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Akmal has sought the help of an Indian wicket-keeping legend of yester years to help sort out his technique behind the stumps. Among other things, Akmal got tips on initial foot movement, reading swing & movement off the pitch and adjusting to the relative positioning of the slip cordon. "I've always loved sharing my wealth of cricket knowledge with young kids. Akmal is struggling right now & needs help", remarked the legendary Parthiv Patel."Every player goes through such a lean phase in his career, its important not to lose hope", added Parthiv. "Parthiv saab, was of great help. He taught me the basics of catching", said Akmal. When asked about the specific tips he received, Akmal added, "When wicket keepers struggle, they need to get back to the basics. Parthiv & I sat together and practised catching flies and mosquitoes for hours. When you can observe the swing & elusive movement of a mosquitoe, it helps improve your concentration and eye sight". "When i watched Parthiv's Sydney test vs Australia, i instantly knew i could become a legend too", continued Akmal. Parthiv has reportedly filed several patents on reading swing & seam movement from behind the stumps. He was proud to flaunt one of his recent patents. "India has a lot of cricket to play against Pakistan. My goal is to get Kamran back into the Pakistani lineup as soon as I can. We will practise juggling and bunjee jumping tomorrow to perfect Akmal's diving and catching skills", said Parthiv. The one week training is supposed to come to an end at the end of the ongoing ODI series and Akmal may afterall make a comeback come the Test series. --Reuters

skeshwani Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Parthiv should do something about katmals teeth. That is the reason why he is struggling his whole focus is to hide his teeth somehow and that is the reason why his concentration is diverted and he is being missing important catches. Dono ki jodi ram aur shyam ki hai. lolz
