carnish Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Rajesh Chauhan, the former India offspinner, suffered a massive cardiac arrest in Bhilai, his hometown, on Monday (July 7). Chauhan, 47, suffered the cardiac arrest early in the morning and was rushed to the Sector-9 Hospital of the Bhilai Steel Plant, where he is employed, according to reports on Zee News. He was later referred to the Apollo Hospital in Bhilai, where he is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). “He (Chauhan) is being kept in the ICU,†said AP Sawant, one of the directors of the hospital, to IANS. “He went through several scans and tests since he was brought in a critical condition, the next one-two days are very critical for him.†Chauhan played in 21 Tests and 35 One-Day Internationals for India from 1993 to 1998, forming one third of India’s spin trio with Anil Kumble and Venkatapathy Raju. He took 47 wickets in Tests and 29 in ODIs, and holds the unique record of never having been part of a losing side in any of the Tests he played in. Our club team played against him on our tour of Bhilai - SAIL ground. He was in his 40's and fielded in inner circle. Took some magnificent catches of fierce hits even at that age.

It was afridis catch he was hit for six the previous ball.
