tapandrun Posted August 27 Posted August 27 17 minutes ago, express bowling said: This analysis has merit. But there were 2 things going against it / covering for it even before the 2nd test started 1 ) Siraj was bowling around 125 k in the 1st test. Looked very slow in the practice match too. Looked unfit and tired. Choosing a semi-fit pacer is not recommended even if it were Bumrah, forget about a support cast like Siraj. 2 ) In tests in Asia, spinners usually take the lead and can cover for inexperienced pacers. Experienced pacers leading in not really needed. If siraj is not fit, he should have not be selected in the 15, think he is fit but he has been regressing. and may have been conserving thinking he may required to bowl a lot of over since kuldeep is not getting wkts and all the other bowler are new. Yes exp. pacers are not needed but you need 2 potent bowlers who do majority of wkt taking -- Siraj/kuldeep and jadu were three senior bowlers and were not that effective. express bowling, tweaker, bouncers and 1 other 4
BCCISelector Posted August 27 Posted August 27 (edited) Siraj bowled 26 overs across 3 days in the 2nd Test. He bowled a total of 18 overs in the 1st Test. I don't think that is too much workload for a workhorse bowler, especially coming from a 2 month rest. Sure, the conditions were humid, but he never seemed to bowl full tilt, not even at the start of the innings. I don't know if he is fully fit. Prasidh bowled more overs than the "workhorse" at higher pace and was bending his back. It make me wonder what the real reason was for why Siraj was picked and then withdrawn from the Eng/Ireland tour. If the team management knew that he isn't 100% but still picked him over Gurnoor in the 2nd Test, then that's extremely poor from them. MK55 Posted August 27 Posted August 27 (edited) I don’t think there are any injury concerns with Siraj. He himself has said that. Hes just lost his rhythm / pace / whatever u wanna call it. The onus was on him to prepare n condition himself properly while he was away for 2 months. And Gambhir after watching him in the first match should have never played him in the second. "To be honest, I wouldn't say I'm at a hundred percent from my side because I've come back after a two-month break. I've been struggling quite a lot with my rhythm in this situation because I haven't been able to find that rhythm. So I'm just trying to get my rhythm back," the pacer said. "But whatever I've been able to do, I'm using my experience and trying to control myself as much as possible while bowling. Because if I think too much, I'll leak runs, I'll come under pressure, and the team will also come under pressure. So my attempt is to keep it simple. If I'm not finding my rhythm, what can I do? I'm just trying to build pressure, build pressure, that's what I'm trying to do," Siraj noted. "Obviously, sir, because I really like responsibility. Whenever a challenge or responsibility comes my way, I really enjoy it, and it brings out a different side of me. So I enjoy that. I don't put too much burden on my body; I just enjoy it," he added. https://www.prokerala.com/news/articles/a1804811.html Edited August 27 by MK55

Rightarmfast Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Was watching highlights of Pakistan and England match. ***YAWN*** Why don't Pakistani bowlers eat some beef? I guess they are lacking. This military medium pace is farking boring! The most boring team currently for sure. I think Pakistan should request India to lend them some grade C fast bowlers for their International team. We have plenty.

The Indian management is waiting for Gurnoor to lose some 10k's of pace, and then they will give him chance. Siraj is just riding on his past glories. Needs to be trumped by younger bowlers so he realizes he cannot take things so easy. BCCISelector, Suhaan, Mosher and 1 other 4
BCCISelector Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Quote “There are no injury concerns for him. I felt his pace was a little less in this series, but he was playing after a couple of months. It takes time to come back,” Gill said while speaking to the press. https://www.indiatoday.in/sports/cricket/story/shubman-gill-mohammed-siraj-injury-colombo-test-draw-india-sri-lanka-2981333-2026-08-27 He played the warmup and two Tests, but yet to find his rhythm. I don't know how many more overs/matches he needs to "come back". Unless he was slacking the whole two months... OTOH, the Australian pace trio start delivering within the first or second game after a long break.

Suhaan Posted August 28 Posted August 28 (edited) Tyagi 153.6 Time stamp-6:37 Commentator clearly mentioning it's official the fastest delivery in any state league, listen any mention of genuine pace and a slight praise gives the viewers and listeners a true adrenaline rush, pace is what brings life to any form of cricket(offcourse not cannon fodder ones) Other g@@du commentators should credit pace where its due atleast not for your like or dislikes just for the PR of the league Edited August 29 by Suhaan bouncers, Mosher, tweaker and 2 others 5

Teengunalagaan Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) The issue is some are basing Tyagi should be in the team of raw talent and potential, but it's been 6 years since 2020 U19 WC, he has played only 4 FC and 20 List A matches, I am assuming half of his T20s would have come in IPL. It's hard to blame selectors for not picking someone who has barely played in 6 years. The issue is much deeper, it's the system failing with fast bowlers again and again, not with one bowler but repeatedly with multiple fast bowlers. But if they really see him as good option for nz and eng then sure give him some exp. but nz pitches are now v.diff , they offer lot more bounce and spongy kind of bounce if they are sending him to white-ball cricket, not sure what tournament it was where pujara was playing and getting 200s, 150s. There is no need to play arsh, he is already a senior member of t20i side, there is no back-up or 2nd LA pacer, ind should try some other LA pacers now Edited August 29 by tapandrun express bowling and bouncers 2
