Real age of Shami is almost 39 now.

From the pov of tiring out limited bowling options it's not a good idea to bowl first here. But from a preparation pov for an upcoming wc its not a bad thing. October afternoons will be similar in many places.

First game itself is in Chennai.

Bowlers will be sweating like pigs under Chennai heat.

Shardul going at 8.2 runs an over after a frugal start by India in the first 10 overs giving away just 42 runs.

Pacers not working. No problem. Reduce a pacer and a batter and get a spin all-rounder and Shivam Dube. Problem solved. :)

Bumrah 142 k attempted yorker

We seriously lack a middle overs enforcer (a pacer). 
I don’t see anyone in this bowling line up who can make things happen when the wicket has died down.

Shami seems like a 50 year old these days. Bumrah these days is good at what he does with his accuracy at the death and swing. But we need an enforcer. 
They totally wasted Umran nor do we have other players lined up to take that role.

Enforcer in ODIs has become Pandya and partnership breaker is Thakur.

We should use Prasidh, with his steep bounce at 140 k+, as the enforcement for now ... till we bring in new ones like Harshit, Sen, Mayank and Tyagi.

Bumrah was the enforcer till early 2022. Hit the pitch really hard for zip and bounce. 

 

But from the time his back started troubling him from mid 2022, Bumrah is wary of hitting the deck hard and wants to depend on movement.  This is a big problem for us.

I know everyone here rates Prasidh very high. I’ve got hopes but I’m yet to see a spell where he broke partnerships on a good wicket with batters well set where he took 2-3 wickets in a spell bowling 90 plus miles consistently. And where he got the set batsman to play awkward shots while doing that. 

From the limited matches he’s played since his comeback, his pace drops down after a couple of overs or is super up and down. Not bad, and that will work fine with his other attributes and he can have a role to play but I don’t think of him as an enforcer.
