Quick bowler gets hit .. Indian commentators say that pace is not everything.

Medium pacer gets hit despite bowling in good areas .. rarely have I heard that line and length isn't everything and the low pace is the reason for getting hit.

Swing bowler gets hit .. Never have I heard Indian commentators say that swing isn't everything and other qualities are needed.

Short bowler gets hit and rarely have I heard an Indian commentator say that his low release point and lack of natural bounce is causing a problem.

What else they have to say?
Their acumen is limited to that only

It is my opinion that every young pacer, whether he bowls 145 k or 135 k or 125 k, must base their bowling on targeting the top of off stump at their full pace.

Every other delivery is a variation which should be used only when a pacer finds rhythm with the above mentioned stock ball.

And use the base of off stump targeted quick yorker as the stock ball in the slog overs.

If Tyagi does this, he will be a really good bowler given his raw pace and 6'3" height.

Tbh even if tyagi bowls top of off he will struggle ,specially in indian conditions. I don't see him as a white ball pacer at all ,maybe try fc cricket and see if it works.

His action is unsuitable to our conditions.

New ball he can swing, can bowl yorkers at death. Move the ball both ways at pace, has a killer bouncer...maybe even reverse as well.

There is nothing wrong with his action...was struggling with rhythm which is now improved and slowly he is coming in zone. Minor tweaks can be done gradually.

Swinging the ball isn't enough ,even bumrah has an outswing release and can move the ball both ways but still struggles to get early breakthroughs.

but bumrah has other strengths so gets to his keep his place.

With tyagi I feel it's too messed up, occasionally he might succeed but thats not good enough .

Not sure, his action actually is very simple.

His problem is he bowls quite wide of the crease, due to which he depends a lot on the wrist snap to land the bowl in right area, specially when trying to bowl outswing to right handed batters.

If he start coming closure to stumps, he won't have that much dependency on the wrist to land the bowl.

That's the reason why he struggle a lot against left arm batters while bowling over the wicket. He can counter it somehow though while bowling round the wicket.

He also falls away in his action and  pushes everything in ,his outswing might work against right handers in helpful condition but on flats tracks he is a sitting duck.

Agree.  Tyagi bowls too wide of the stumps and I don't know why coaches haven't tried to rectify this.  How can he be accurate with this !  He will keep pushing some balls down the leg and then give width on the off stump in an attempt to rectify this.

He needs to bowl closer to the stumps and shorten his run-up steps a bit too.

Sen bowling 129-137 kph...got smashed for 3 sixes in his first over.

This new kid of Delhi Priyansh looks an amazing hitter.

Looked much quicker than this.

But bowled too many unnecessary short balls on this pitch.

His natural length is short of length

Remember Sen's early Ranji years when his natural length was proper good length and he got regular outswing.

He has shortened his length after he has picked up pace.  He needs yo bd smart and bowl according to conditions.

Our young pacers are rarely smart ,they need proper guidance very early in their career

They have ability but lack the nuances, obviously due to unresponsing conditions

That is why we need proper coaches to guide them early

High time we prepare genuine fast bowling pitches as I have advocated about it in other thread

Sen is another umesh, has physical attributes but not dependable .he is to rabada what umesh is to steyn.

Still rate him higher than tyagi although tyagi has a stronger mentality.

Sen is tall and gets bounce. While Umesh did not get bounce till 2016. Which is why he got hit a lot.

Sen won't get hit badly if he gets to play regularly. His balls hit the splice of the bat.

And you say umesh got bounce? that guy couldnt hit the deck hard even if his life depended on it even though he could bowl 140ks

Sen & Umesh are very different bowlers.

Umesh is swing bowler by nature, Sen is seam and hit the deck.

Umesh can't bowl yorkers even his life depends on it, Sen is a decent death bowler.

Sen was wrecking havoc last year in Irani & Vijay Hazare...got injured at wrong time and he hasn't got much game time yet. Some more games under his belt and he will be raring to go.

Before this match he actually has bowled decently so far, 50 overs is his best format and perhaps we may see the best of him next month when Vijay Hazare starts.
