Can Ashwin really make a difference in Lords for the IInd test?!

That is truth.. lol Each time one sucks other will be preferred. Also it is hard to be successful in each match. Also it is hard to gauge who will suit a specific surface.

We are not talking about being successful, but be able to pick at least 1-2 wickets at crucial times when opposition is under pressure. SA spinners had more wickets at wanderers than Ashwin. Durban was providing more turn to Jadeja, so he did take wickets but at a huge cost bowling 60 overs. In NZ, Jadeja averaged 85. You cannot do much if you 4th bowler has a stats like that. At Trentbridge, 35 overs for no wickets. What's the need to play spinner when they are doing nothing and all the work has virtually been done by pacers. Why not make that department stronger adding another seamer! Spin is our strength at home on tailor made pitches, not overseas.

this containing thing is crap. It suits to teams have 3 very good bowlers who can destroy batting on their own like Aus an SA. Our bowlers are nit going to do that. We need all bowlers to be able to pick wickets.

That is where Jadeja helps as a defensive spinner . What he needs to add to his test bowling is at time start flighting and using the width of the crease a little bit. We must remember all the experts were critical of Ojha and Ashwin in the past because they did not put in more effort while bowling and Jadeja was seen as the one who will bowl 87-88 kmph for long spells (and not 81-82 which Ashwin and Ojha bow). In fact IIC Ashwin lost his spot in SA because he was perceived to be not using his shoulder much thus limiting his ability to be of any threat.

People were critical because Ashwin and Ojha were slow and still were not putting enough revs on the ball to make it turn or dip. Jadeja bowls quicker but he does not do anything of that sort. He can be very good on slightly turning tracks because of his pace like Monty was in India.

Who it is going to weaken batting? Jaddu will be replaced who is nothing good with the bat too. Play either Ashwin or Binny for batting and on such a pitch even BK will bat well.

4 seamers and 6 batsmen looks more ideal for india. I would prefer rohit sharma at 6. Even if binny is selected on his current batting form, he should play at 6 rather than 8. our batting order struggled even on the flat trent bridge pitch. guess how we will fare with 5 batsmen on bowling friendly pitches. reg spinner, unless the pitch is so dry, we should go with 4 seamers. with current form of jadeja and ashwin, a seamer is more likely to get 1-2 wickets than those 2.
