Midfielder Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Baseball is totally different game... Bowler is not equivalent to Pitcher Workload is about the same.
TheWall Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 These are the things I would do. (1) Rest all three pace bowlers and bring in Pankj, Sharma and Aaron 2) Find a place for Ashwin .i.e Binny (3) Replace the sorry ass Dhoni with Saha. (4) Replace Dhawan with Gambhir (not sure about this one) (5) Kohli benched, Rohit in. I know this sounds radical but this is how top coaches in US operate. It is tough world. How can u expect a yankee coach to understand the nuances of cricket.... Though agree with point 2 and 4 which can be worked out based on the pitch.
TheWall Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Workload is about the same. You mean they play baseball for 5 days continuously and have a billion people's pressure on them...
suraj Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 These are the things I would do. It is tough world. 1) Not really a bad idea but need more facts Can someone point out to match wining spells from Pankaj and Aaron?? (Intl) or even above average?? I am confused- Which Sharma are you talking about?? I keep hearing about Aaron's speed but don't see results 2) Binny has to go; at this point I would play Sunny Leone instead of Binny; better butt and motivation/relaxation for our players vs. waste of 11th player. Whether its Ashwin (batting & bowling), Pankaj/Aaron (bowling support) or Saha (challenge Dhoni) anything is an upgrade 3) Not happening; Dhoni doesn't belong as a test batsman; I can easily see Saha/Kartik or a wkt keeper batsman replacing him if they can show better wit keeping skills than him; Dhoni may not be the best wit keeper at the moment but are others good or better?? Regardless this is not going to happen but BCCI seriously needs to start thinking whether his captaincy/wkt keeping warrants a spot anymore 4) Dhawan needs to realize he is running out of chances; trying to replicate Viru is not good enough unless you can play some knocks like Viru; GG I thought would be in the team next 7 yrs and GG at his best in test with Vijay now would have been an absolute delight for India but current GG is too iffy so I agree not sure about this one 5) No benching of Kohli; Kohi is our best hope for a legendary batsman in the long run - he can deliver and has the talent but my concern is that he is getting too distracted with Bollywood, girlfriend, ads etc.... it will be a tragedy if he doesn't end up as someone who replicates careers of our "fabs" in cricket but thats a choice he has got to make Finally dude- everything is not about imitating US; that is just pure moronic; how many baseball games are played in a season and these are totally different sports
diga Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I know this sounds radical but this is how top coaches in US operate. It is tough world. Thank God you aren't the coach there is a reason why the baseball game is not popular beyond Amrika.. :winky:
BeautifulGame Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Also replace Kohli with Rohit ? On what basis exactly?
saneindian Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 And when the new set of players fail, replace them again , rinse and repeat? An even more radical idea is to have a lottery and decide who should be in the 11. Will be lot more fun, no science or logic required. And lastly a recall for Bhajji will be the best confidence booster this team needs :P

U r right about gambhir as he recently had some county experience albeit a bad one.If Kohli is benched and saha is taken, who will captain?:hmmm: Why rest Kumar when he is doing well, do u wanna commit a harakiri? We have not won the series yet, remember.
rkt.india Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 1) Not really a bad idea but need more facts Can someone point out to match wining spells from Pankaj and Aaron?? (Intl) or even above average?? I am confused- Which Sharma are you talking about?? I keep hearing about Aaron's speed but don't see results He has only played 1 tests 3 wickets and 8 ODIs 11 wickets yet. Not a bad start. He has pace no question about it and test is the best format for genuine pacers.

BlueBee Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 WTF??? :haha: I would've only picked Aaron for Binny.
renjith Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Only change worth making is replacing binny with aswin/aaron/pankaj/pandey/rohit depending on pitch and team strategy.

WTF a bit radical:hysterical: Agree with point 3 though:giggle:
Crookbond Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Imagine the Aussies resting Johnson Harris and Siddle after 2nd test in Ashes becoz base coaches do That is exactly what they did with Siddle and Hilfenaus vs South Africa in 2012. They rested them after the 2nd Test match, to lose the 3rd which Aus lost and SA won the series.
Midfielder Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 U r right about gambhir as he recently had some county experience albeit a bad one.If Kohli is benched and saha is taken, who will captain?:hmmm: Why rest Kumar when he is doing well, do u wanna commit a harakiri? We have not won the series yet, remember. To give Kumar a break. Body does get tired and you dont want him to go Irfan way. Captaincy is overrated. It is the coaches job to send in the game plan over by over.

Midfielder Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Baseball is totally different game... Bowler is not equivalent to Pitcher True. Human body is pretty much the same.
Midfielder Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 You mean they play baseball for 5 days continuously and have a billion people's pressure on them... Baseball season is long and it is non stop but let us not turn this into baseball discussion just physical endurance one.
