Midfielder Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 These are the things I would do. (1) Rest all three pace bowlers and bring in Pankj, Sharma and Aaron 2) Find a place for Ashwin .i.e Binny (3) Replace the sorry ass Dhoni with Saha. (4) Replace Dhawan with Gambhir (not sure about this one) (5) Kohli benched, Rohit in. I know this sounds radical but this is how top coaches in US operate. It is tough world.

Why would you bench players after playing just 2 tests?
undisputed chap Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Srini mama would have hunted you down & have made an example out of you :nervous:
Midfielder Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Why would you bench players after playing just 2 tests? Fair question. Bowling takes a toll and fast bowlers need to be preserved. Baseball never allows their main pitcher to play two consecutive games to keep them injury free and fresh. Even high schools do that but I really don,t understand why cricket does not. Bowling that many over is tedious.

apocalypse Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I would not rest all the pacers for 3rd test. Yes I would get one more pacer instead of Binny. Dhoni will stay in the team irrespective of whether we like it or not as of now. His demise will be like Darren Sammy. Bringing in Gambhir might be helpful. Kohli might be given one more chance before Rohit is allowed to step in It is not always about the numbers. Sometimes it is about the bonding developed between the players. It is tough to put in a new piece without disturbing the puzzle

It is tough to put in a new piece without disturbing the puzzle Injury/freshness is the criteria. Like I mentioned Baseball does it routinely. Kohli is a tough call but he has been under performing for a while. It is not a knee jerk reaction. Agreed on the last point. Team chemistry is very important.
maniac Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 2,3,4 I agree....5 not so much....2 and 5 can be combined...Rohit/Ashwin for Binny depending on the Pitch and Aaron must be given a go
BeautifulGame Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Oh good lord! Imagine the Aussies resting Johnson Harris and Siddle after 2nd test in Ashes becoz base coaches do
Midfielder Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 2' date='3,4 I agree....5 not so much....2 and 5 can be combined...Rohit/Ashwin for Binny depending on the Pitch and Aaron must be given a go[/quote'] I think other sharma and Pankaj are ahead of Aaron.
undisputed chap Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 He is an administrator not a sportsperson. You think you can get away with sacking dhoni :nervous:. Don't ..even ...think ..about ...it dude.
Midfielder Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Imagine the Aussies resting Johnson Harris and Siddle after 2nd test in Ashes becoz base coaches do India has several good bowlers and none great. So this is not a bad strategy. Look what happened to Nehra, Zaheer, RP, PK and others. India can afford to rotate more than others. Even look at world cup footballr, fatigue is real. The teams playing in humid conditions never won the next match.

apocalypse Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Baseball is totally different game... Bowler is not equivalent to Pitcher
