Do we need to open with Che/Rahane overseas?

I notice there have been called for GG to replace Shikar. I think its right that Shikar is replaced. He needs to go back and concentrate on his game. Probably needs a county stint. I dont think playing in India can fix his problems. Problem is GG is the same as Shikar. Lose outside offstump and will poke. The hour India batted out yesterday. Both Shikar and Pujara got edges from good anderson balls. The difference was that che was tight and played his with soft hands. Shikar just hung his bat out. GG is in the same boat. Will flash hard outside off. So whats the solution on this tour? Rahane and Che have the technique to deal with the new ball. Why not bump either one of these two up? We have seen Mooli at the other end simply blocking his way out of the new ball. We just need a blocker with solid technique. So how about Mooli Che/Rahane Che/Rahane Kohli Rohit Ashwin Dhoni Sir Bhuvi other pacers. Rahane usually bats at 3/4 for mumbai but has opened before. Che has opened before for India and can follow the Dravid mould.

Also like to add who is a long term replacement ? Jiwanjot is a name which comes to mind? is he ready or not?

Jiwanjot needs more A tours and work against pace and bounce.

Gauti may get a chance if Shikhar flops in the second innings as well. We cannot rule that out.
he mostly will but both him and shikar are similar in so many respects outside off stump.

Doubt they will move Ajinkya up. If at all they have to replace Shikhar, they would replace him with Gauti. I do not see much difference between the out of form Shikhar and out of form Gauti. If Shikhar flops in second innings i would take it as he is out of form and just give a look and see if Gauti can strike some form while trying to make a comeback.

Actually Rahane maybe should open. He is actually an opener and showed can handle pace and moving ball no probs. We have no better option then rahane to open and he could do it superbly. We do have great options in lower middler order to come in. Can see Vijay and Rahane easily having hundrerd run opening stands, from there massive scores will come

@number yes , I lost to slickr @to the point. I am happily married to a woman. But i see no harm in being gay. The way i see it i am secure about my sexuality. In my past experiences those who are not secure seem to be the bigger bashers of gay people. Truth is i have never had gay friends. But i have a healthy apathy. Its none of my business what somebody else does with their lives.

Seriously, those who target a particular group mostly weaker sections of society like females or LGBT without any reason are infact cowards of the highest order. Anyways finally we know what G_B stands for afterall? Just kidding :giggle:

Last?? The guy is a class act. Is an opener and batting 5 is not natural for him. He is defo ready to bat his normal positon. Him and Vijay could be awesome together. Just imagine Pujara walking out to bat with already 100 on the board as a min. Massive scores would be reached Rahane to open is the way forward. And importantly rahane would want this as well

If Rahane can manage the opening slot, nothing like it....and he has the technique to handle the new ball .... Players like samsung can get into no:6 slot

Tough one. While Rahane/Pujara have the technique and temperament, they seem to have nicely settled into their roles. We have stability there. If we are to move Rahane there, we ought to find a viable #5. Plus Rahane must be given a long rope as he adjusts. This may all be moot because Dhoni seems to be hell-bent on the L-R opening combo. So, if SD is out, GG is in.
