Lord Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 You are under estimating GG bro...he is way better batsman than Dhawan. No harm in giving chance atleast in 1 game. Older GG was,not sure current pokemon version is. Also cant chop and change too much,if GG has to come in,he too should get a decent run.Thats why I want to given some more time. In NZ Vijay looked poor but we stuck with him and results are there.

bihutoli Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Everybody should be given a chance to fail imo. Its only fair. Dhawan had his chances, why not give Gambhir a go. Ditto with Jadeja vs Ashwin. Maybe give Aaron a chance and give Bhuvi some time to recover. Wish Dhoni would sit out too and we play with ten men.
Lord Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 overdoing this continuity thing is the biggest problem indian cricket is facing now. Everyone does it.Tell me which team drops players after 3 matches, specially those who had a good series before
renjith Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Everyone does it.Tell me which team drops players after 3 matches' date='specially those who had a good series before[/quote'] india/dhoni does it a bit too much (ishant, rohit are current examples in the team) coming back to topic. i see no harm in giving gg a chance in next test. that is not suggesting gg is a better player. a new player will atleast bring some freshness to the team. both are not long-term options. so there is no meaning in continuing with dhavan from that point of view as well. i hope both will be dropped for the series against WI and lokesh rahul is given a chance so that he will be ready for aus series.
SLICKR392 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Dhawan is bad but GG is as bad if not worse' date=why replace one bad guy with another?I would rather give Dhawan 2 more tests and hope he improves. If he doesnt replace him with a new player.Going back to GG without him showing any improvement is a backward step. As I said hes just in as a backup, same as Saha and now Ojha are backup to MSD Similarly how people want Ashwin in for Jadea (bowling reasons). You can see most claiming Ashwin to do well despite him having a bad outing overseas. Its just as simple, when one isn't doing well, you replace him with the other candidate on the line. Dhawan is not going to be left out from the Indian team, like Ashwin he will be in the bench if dropped.

Also even if bowling is considered,Jaddu sucked both in NZ and here,so thats 5 matches which is decent run.Dhawan did well in NZ so deserves a bit of rope imo.Kohli has sucked too,but again he deserves a rope, even longer than Dhawan instead of replacing with Rohit.

Since Jaddu hasn't been bowling well, you replace him with Ashwin, who's the next best option. Similarily you replace Dhawan with Gambhir, since Dhawan has now failed 5 innings on the trot opening for us.
ThePhenomenal1 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 better to try options than lose another game. need new faces, freshen things up.
GautiMaan Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 better to try options than lose another game. need new faces' date=' freshen things up.[/quote'] Exactly at least we wont die wondering what if xyz played. You have options use them

SLICKR392 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 and Rohit for Kohli? Kohli is not an opener. Our issue overseas in the last 3 series has been the openers. I'm not saying Gambhir would pile up runs but wouldn't hurt to try when Dhawan's been failing every inning.

I'm not saying Gambhir would pile up runs but wouldn't hurt to try when Dhawan's been failing every inning. Rohit isnt an opener either. So replace middle order Kohli with Rohit?Doesnt hurt to try :D Dhawan wasnt an issue in NZ.Ironically,Vijay was.Everyone was calling for him to be dropped after he failed in warmup. But we stuck with him and he delivered. Not sure why we can't do that with Dhawan. You first try to improve the player by helping him with his issues.Only if they are too bad(like Rohit) or he doesnt improve, should he be dropped.Dhawan atm needs to be told to be calmer.
Austin 3:!6 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 If Dhawan plays and couldnt cross 30...Lord ko ban maari :orderorder:
Lord Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 If Dhawan plays and couldnt cross 30...Lord ko ban maari :orderorder: werent you asking for Mooli to be dropped before the series?:--D
veer Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 rest Dhawan??? From warming bench?? Doesnt he get out in first 10 overs regularly?? He needs to be dropped permanently.. keep him for asian tests but in overseas, he is a walking wicket.

It would be unfair to drop him and stick with Kohli despite both performing very similarily.
