moniker Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 ^ There is no market for test cricket in India, so obviously England won't play 5 match series in India. But there is in England. It's the only country where people are ready to pay huge sums to watch test cricket. Unless public stops watching there's no reason why such series should not be scheduled. If you say public will lose interest after watching this inept performance, let them do that first. Then stop scheduling.
GautiMaan Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Should phase out test cricket, the larger public would not even notice and the rest of us would be spared from this torture.
kubrickian Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 If we want to do well in tests in England, Australia, SA we need huge changes right from domestic level, from changing the nature of pitches we play in FC and tests - we need tracks which assist pace and bounce, making test cricket a priority before IPL, ODI series, sending some of our players to county cricket or FC in other countries, inviting international players to our FC, giving more incentive to players to play only tests, scheduling a test series which doesnt overburden a team etc. I don't think BCCI are prepared to make those changes because test cricket is not that important to them. They want Indian team to do well in tests like they want them to do well in some bilateral ODI series but there is no real desperation.

BCCI is like fast food center.Use the existing players and infrastructure to get the maximum. What you are saying is like preparing home food, where lots of process goes in cooking to get good quality food. Not going to happen. Atleast Iam happy that this time the Indian players had 2 warm ups before tests.Previously till 2011, there used to be barely one warm up before India will lose its first test. Strong India in tests is also necessary to bring revenue, but with quality. I say have 3 match test series in England. If you really want to play 5 tests, start with 4 , see how team performs and then readjust appropriately. Last time inspite of getting beaten 4-0 in tests with lots of Injuries( Zaheer, Harbhajan, Gambhir etc), BCCI still had galls to schedule 5 match test series and expect different results.
singhprakash72 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Well this is a team that can easily make 1974 Indian team (to England) look world beater. I mean seriously you can't even reach double figure while batting and then to top it, drop lolly pops in slips...I have seen better slip catching in Kanga league (that too in monsoon season) than these bunch of losers. If they are made to play another 5 tests they'll lose 8-1 !...once you start losing outside the subcontinent their is no stopping for Dhoni and his flipping boys.
G_B_ Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 how about India learn how to play 5 match series rather than being chicken? While i was young i had trouble with statistics. Today a big part of my job is statistics. This loser mentality serves nobody.

For that, we need to have better bench too to replace players who are failing. Look at this series, Kohli, GG, SD, Chepu all failing but no alternatives. They should have been replaced after 3 tests especially Kohli and Pujara giving others a chance.
Cricket_Hacker Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 we should stop playing cricket.concentrate on studies.
