Binny for his batting dude since Dhawan and Gambhir are walking wickets. Not bowling.
This Indian team is a joke :haha: We have reached a stage where people are talking about Binny as a specialist batsman and Jadeja as a specialist bowler, that too for test cricket in England :haha:

Want me to bring up Binny's dismissal in the last innings he played? Batsman? You are kidding!:hysterical:

He looked comfortable whenever he played. Saved us in Trent Bridge when the ball started swinging on Day 5 with Kohli, Rahane and Dhoni getting out. Selecting Binny has more to do with lack of options more than anything else. Is it worth it to go with a walking wicket opener?

Why not naman ojha instead of Binny?Binny wont bowl' date='so point calling him an all-rounder[/quote'] Could be but since Binny has done well and looked comfortable (got 2 wrong decisions in 3 dismissals), its more safer to go with him. Anyway its a temporary move and you might as well go for the option that looks the best (as of now). By the way, if Binny comes he must come in a batsman's slot. Not in one of the 5 bowler's slot. His bowling won't be used.

I'd play Binny as a bowler who can bat.... in place of Jadeja maybe.... and bring in Ojha for Gambhir... No.4 should be Kohli / Dhawan / Rohit.... All three have equal chance of failing... And get Umesh in place of Pankaj if he is available... else go back to Shami

We need 5 bowlers who can bowl. If Binny leaks runs (which is very likely), we would be effectively playing with 4 bowlers. Moreover the track for the 5th Test suits spinners the most. Ashwin and Jaddu are a must (for that track).

Oval has the highest bowling average for spinners in last few years in England and that is 41. Giles saying it wont help spinners much. Even Ajmal picked just 1 wicket against Surrey in 50 plus overs there.

Really? Everywhere it is being said, it is the most spin friendly track?

Really? Everywhere it is being said' date=' it is the most spin friendly track?[/quote'] Giles said it used to be in 90s or before. Pitch has changed but perception has not. Still spinners have picked a lot of wickets here but that is because they have bowled a lot too.

I wouldn't say Binny would leak runs. We haven't seen him bowl except for the first test. If he bowls something like 15 overs, 1 or 2 /60, that is more than good enough for me. He can score some useful runs with the bat as well, which I don't believe Jadeja can do. (Don't mention Lord's. That was a freak one inning exception)

The problem with selecting Binny as a bowler is that we can't take the risk now (by assuming he can bowl economically). The best chance for us to draw this series is by 1. Picking 5 proper bowlers who can bowl and keep each other fresh 2. Picking the best set of batsmen available If Binny doesn't make the cut in a pure batsman's spot, then someone else must come in.

Hoping this pitch favors seamers, Our only chance at a draw or a win is picking up 20 wkts. So I would increase the chances of that. I have very little hope in our batting so even 1 score of 250-300 would have to be defended and we need wickets. I would pick Umesh and depending upon Ishant's condi tion I will play 4 pacers. Use Ashwin as an opener, bring Rahane @3, drop down pujara @4, bring rohit for kohli @5. Kohli's had enough chances this series,IMO. And drop Jadeja for Binny. Vijay Ashwin Rahane Pujara Rohit Binny Dhoni Ishant Bhuvi Aaron Umesh
