I think OP forgot how horrible Sehwag, Gambo and co were when we kept losing. Sehwag has lost his ability to play out tough spells of bowling. Doesn't matter if he is in the middle order. Aussie pacers would still eat him alive. Going back to him is the WORST possible move. Gambo was selected cos he did well in domestic cricket but as we can see now, he is hopeless. After this series, Gambhir's international career ends.

I remember all the beatings of 2011 against Eng and Aus.But with young players we are still losing badly ( especially last 3 tests ) and the players are not even showing a fight to make 200 runs.Iam sure Sehwag will show some fight if given consistent run in middle order.Sehwag toured australia in 2003, 2007 and 2011. 2011 is the only time he failed.Also I acknowledge that Sehwag did not work hard enough to get back. But he seems to be getting into some kind of form with century in MCC match. When you see Lanka, Pakistan they always have 1- 2 experienced players to groom young players in tough tours for tests. The thing is because of so many young players with no experience, you keep chopping and changing. Now Dhawan and Rohit is dropped. IF Pujara and Kohli fail in Australia tour , will they be dropped? This is going to be never ending story. Lets say, you stick with youngster no matter what for 20 tests and if the player averages only 30 runs in overseas tests , are you going to stick to him with mounting losses? The thing is with very experienced veterans in 2011 we lost. In 2014 with young team and no experience same outcome.You can stick with these players till they succeed which may or may not happen.So where do we draw the line.I think the solution is somewhere in between.Have 1-2 experienced players.Sehwag must be given chance in Aus tour in middle order to stabilize things and till few of Vijay, other opener, Kohli, Pujara and Rohit becomes consistent.
