Rajiv Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 One of the beauties of Indian Cinema is that they typecast actors perfectly. We have our pure chocolate heroes, villains, comedians, cabaret dancers ( Helen ) and utility ( Pran ) Now, how did some of the, convert? and sometimes for the good Shakti Kapoor - Pure Bad man and turned to pure comedy (Notable Performance: Coolie No. 1 ) Govinda: He came in as dancing hero, back in the 90s - he had a large fan following, slowed down and he got into the xxx NO. 1 Franchise, made a funny duo with Shakti Akshay Kumar/ Sunil Shetty: Akhsay was your pure action hero with all this kung fu skills and what not, same with Sunil Shetty; he was really bad when he came but over time both are recognized in the comedy genre these days. Saif Ali Khan: He was never the main hero, always a 2nd. His movie Dil Chahta hain changed his personality completely and public accepts him as the main character now A lot has to do with public taste as well, the good ole "Friday" decider but some of them have changed for the good and some are just lost Arshad Warsi / Chandrachur Singh: Tere Mere Sapne was their debut movie, arshad struggled and now he is like the Rajindranath of the 70s. Chadrachur singh, IMO had a good screen look but got lost somewhere ------------------------- What’s your take folks
Cricketics Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Akshay Kumar/ Sunil Shetty: Akhsay was your pure action hero with all this kung fu skills and what not, same with Sunil Shetty; he was really bad when he came but over time both are recognized in the comedy genre these days. add Ajay Devgan to this category.. .. when he first came. all of his movies used to have action.. phool aur kaante and vijaypath and all.
Rajiv Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 Ajay Devgan was called "Rikshawalla", a total misfit in this industry but he cam eon top. He has some really good performances
gator Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 anupam kher from his comic roles to serious role like in daddy, maine gandhi blah blah...
Guest Hiten. Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 What about Anupam Kher's wife - Kiron Kher ? She took over all the "maa ke kirdaar" roles from nirupa roy, reema laagu and farida jalal
coffee_rules Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Shah rukh khan is a convert too. He was a talented actor with a lot of potential in a lot of TV serials, KHKN and Baazigar ...he has typecasted himself to a superstar, a total hack of an actor, a ham and a big bore.
Rajiv Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 I liked SRK in his negative roles, loved his role in KHKN ( Kabhi Haa Kabhi Naa ) Ramjaane and Dil Se I will still watch his movies but not wit so much enthu ( excluding OSO )
beetle Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Paresh Rawal...doing villian roles and then moving on to become one of the best comedians.
Mandrake Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 anupam kher from his comic roles to serious role like in daddy' date=' maine gandhi blah blah...[/quote'] Actually Anupam Kher started his career with Saransh - one of the most disturbing and poignant movies I have seen. I think he was always a top notch actor....
Rajiv Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 Actually Anupam Kher started his career with Saransh - one of the most disturbing and poignant movies I have seen. I think he was always a top notch actor.... only actor in the industry to have won eight consecutive Filmfare awards.
