to be frank i cant believe its come to this. Sachin-Ganguly Sehwag-Sachin Sehwag-Gambhir We have have had great openers in the limited overs from the late 90s to 2011. None of the current lot Dhawan, Rohit, Rahane, etc can hold a candle to the players mentioned above. Even GG pre 2011 was a beast.

Given the type of batsmen, Sehwag and Tendulkar was easily the most explosive batsmen and best batsmen at the top of the order. Sehwag attacked, Tendulkar always had the capacity to rotate the strike and would never get bogged down. Dude he has been superb for a number of years. Yes had one bad test series but crikey you don't dump him after for one bad series when been excellent before that for years. Also just like to remind you that the poor form was in a test series, which does not mean should be dropped from odi team

lol yeah The key in all these partnerships was one was the anchor the other went all out.

I say give 2 more series to Sehwag please. Just 2 series. If it don't pay off...sack him for ever. But if it does, Sehwag- Dhawan can be a deadly opening pair in World cup. Our middle order too strong and if we somehow get a good start noone stopping us. Sehwag shown little bit of a form in IPL...so we must give him a final chance. But I don't see that happening with Dhoni at helm :((

yh he sees it off.. like 3 off 21 or 6 off 27 balls! thats appalling. its not test cricket. what follows is dhawan tries to speed things up and gets out, then middle order have to suffer. still his fans will praise him did u see rahane? made 45 at a good SR, got frequent singles. not perfect but he doesnt open regularly like rohit who cant buy a single. rohit was once again outperformed. And we got 300 thanks to rohit/rahane partnership (not rohit's terrible opening), raina's brilliance and support from dhoni and the last few strikes from ashwin

He didn't do bad in IPL actually, one century and one 70+ innings also gave good starts in every match. If he's in team you're sure to get good starts. He is 35 now, his days are long gone.

Yeah We should try some new players in that series. Vohra, Samson, KJadhav should be given their chances.

Rahane has gear shifting problems. He is young can come good if properly coached. Mooli, considers test cricket as important, so no point picking him in squad. Also he has only 5 to 6 yrs left, so better he can concentrate on test.

Was he not one of the top run getters this IPL? His innings against CSK in semis is one of the best IPL knocks I have seen. Though, I never consider IPL as a stepping stone in international cricket but when the batsman is of a calibre of Sehwag he deserve a final hurrah based on that.

Never said he should be dropped. He needs to sit out. He needs to go over each shot in which he was out and with the batting coach and fix it. There are issues to be resolved.

Dhawan doesnt inspire any confidence for WC and Rohit makes 20 runs off 50 balls and get out or make 50 once in every 8 match. Even Sehwag can do it. If not Sehwag try Naman Ojha.
