without a doubt kartik. he is the best batsman in the list. ojha is an avg batsman avg keeper. Saha is a lousy batsman and not sure why ppl rate him so high as keeper. In the limited opportunities he has got he has always managed to show why dhoni is better than him. Samson has a bright future as batsman but i honestly don't see him as a keeper. Him keeping for India would be like the whole dravid keeping for india situation.

Hmmm...good thread. I would definitely go with Sampson for ODI's and Ojha for tests. Having said that no one is capable to fill MSD's shoes and it will leave a massive dent in Indian cricket. We have to settle with mediocrity like we did during Mongia and Patrhiv Patel years. And I am not saying out of fanboyism or anything. Its a massive advantage to a team when you have a wicket keeper bat like Gilly or MSD. I have seen those dozens of wicket keeper's we have tried before - Patel, Gandhi, Ratra, MSK Prasad...finally resorting to Dravid. I just fear once Dhoni retires our cricket don't go back to those dreaded years.

Why so? He has been a regular WK at junior levels for Kerala. You wont get a perfect Wk at 19 years of age. Most Wk who debuted for India at a young age were not great in keeping skills.

Most of our current test batsmen play with an angled bat... Samson plays with a straight bat and good enough as a specialist batsman.

Yes. He certainly is. Parthiv was horrible.
