Yea jadeja was wreaking havoc there lol chawla totally out bowled two national bowlers. Unless pitch is offering square turn or opposition sucks balls against spin tony is a junk captain in managing bowlers. In tests England is patient so tony could not get away.
Tgis is not based on t20s. Check out jaddu's odi stats & compare to unesh. Jaddu is matchwinner with ball & bat. Umesh is pretty much a brainless bowler who gets smqcked around in . How do you guys jstify avg of 40+ & ER 6+. You guys obviously cant. So go on with your excuses he is phasst, dhoni cant use him nicely blah blah blah

Your post is after an IPL match lol so i can only quote from the match. I am not saying he is ODI material. But he definitely deserves a run in Tests. Pishant after years of sucking kept on getting chances. Bhuvnaeswar was not given a chance in SA and NZ. Give the same set of bowlers to all captains in the world, they will look the worst under Dhoni especially on pattas. It is a fact. Dhoni sucks balls in managing bowlers if there is no spin on the offer. When you can justify 5 test series failures overseas it is not that hard to justify anything. They were A+ canning.. not just simple defeats.

Jadeja after playing 32 ODI matches http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/234675.html?class=2;spanmax1=17+Aug+2010;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround Average of 42.20. His ER was also close to 6 at that point. Yet he got chances after chances after chances. Anyone can be a match winner in some matches if supported for over 5 years.

Some people who say economy rate doesnt matter in tests shows they have no idea what they are talking about. Test cricket is all about taking wickets and you take wickets by building pressure which is by consistently bowling good deliveries in the right areas. If you keep bowling loose deliveries and give away 4 or 5 runs an over, you are allowing batsmen to rotate strike, score boundaries every over and there won't be any pressure on them. No good test bowler in the world gives away 4 or 5 runs an over. He may do well some times but most of the time, he won't be effective and will affect his team chances too.

Pishant's sharma's economy rate is 3.35 A strike rate of 65 Avge of 36.. Epitome of mediocrity. Yet he is always there :cantstop:.

Yeah ok now tell me who would you rather have someone with bowl avg 40+ with bat avg 30+ who is among the best fielders or someone with bowling avg 40+ with no ability with the bat & an ok fielder. Knowing your dhoni hate maybe the latter.

I never said he is good. :cantstop: I was just pointing out to some people that ER is also important in tests if you want to be effective as a bowler.

Umesh definitely deserves a chance in tests. But, as an Umesh fan, I am disappointed in his approach and attitude. He is not a rookie bowler now.... will turn 27 next month ... has been around for 5 years or more. He should bowl good spells more consistently. As a big Umesh fan I am not happy. He looks like a rookie pacer half the time I see him bowl.

So now your pathetic attempt to justify Jadeja as a match winner failed so now you are bringing his batting average? Why not try for a player who is a much better bowler instead of sticking with Jadeja at that point? BTW, in those 32 matches he had only 3 50s and no great innings as you seem to be implying. Both his batting and fielding has improved after being given multiple chances And again you are fooling no one with your sudden Dhoni love. And by a remarkable co-incidence, Dhoni is the only Indian player you support and put down everyone else. Even here you are only supporting Jadeja because of Dhoni factor, :winky:

Johnson was not that good before the Ashes series in Australia and hence his ER might look a tad above average. He used to be very wayward and used to give away lots of runs and hence not that effective despite having the pace, swing and everything going for him. As he got more accurate, he became lot more effective and deadly.

Even in the last 2 years Ishant/MJ Economy rate is around same 3.13/3.03 respectively. MJs strike rate is 34, Ishant's strike rate is 64.
