diga Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 more info about lte thing .. quacomm used to put lte modem on soc itself (example sd801 ) which saved lot of power but now i guess its not needed (you can search urself lot of info which i dont want to post :P ) i think sd 805 had separate lte modem(same with iphone ) probably velu can tell us if older exynos chips even supported lte ? i think there is reason they never release axynos lte s5 but do release exynos note with lte ..(i read about it long time ago will try searching for it ) in short ...they chose qualcomm in past because of LTE mainly and now they no longer have to depend on them for that . Apple may develop its own baseband if you go by their recent ads for RF engineers ..QLCM is going to face lot of issues if Intel somehow gets into Apple in the interim. ps: Microsoft is investing in Cyanogen Mod. Some competition there

So far Samsung never had any LTE modems. 1) Snapdragon device dont need additional modems because it is inbuilt 2) apple buys only modems from qualcomm and use it with its SoC ( A7, A8 , .. ) 3) samsung used Snapdragon in developed markets where LTE is available 4) when using Exynos chipset samsung uesd qualcomm or intels LTE modem if needed samsung was forced to use Snapdragon in developed markets where LTE n/w is widespread. Because using snapdragon saves time than using Exynos + Qualcomm/Intel LTE modem combo. Also Snapdragon is superior to Exynos. Looks like now samsung is able to develop its own LTE modems and ablt to have it in the Exynos SoC itself. its a massive gamble by samsung .. Exynos has got raw power but does poorly in graphics part ( sources ).. Normal user cant differentiate between these two different SoCs anyway.

Isn't SD 810 64 bit? Is the latest version of Exynos 64 bit? If not then Galaxy S6 will also be 2 or 3 GB RAM? What are your thoughts about RAM up-gradation being possible in mobiles like laptops? If the processor is based on 64-bit architecture, then theoretically, isn't even 128 GB RAM possible? How close/far are we from user expandable RAMs?

Also opposite might happen like macbook where you cannot upgrade ram as this is done to save space :cantstop:

Also apps are getting heavier just use google plus on iPhone and side by side Facebook and Twitter and see them run out each time you use other app :cantstop:

Plasma technology finally has died. LG after poor losses last year.. closed down plasma. Only thing that can come close to picture quality of Plasma is from OLED. LED/LCD can never ever get there. But over a period they killed us by overloading TVs with all the technical jargons. Contrast ratio was the single most important thing in a TV. Nothing can beat Plasama in that. But over a period 4k, subfield frequency.. all those things just blinded the average consumer. I don't think anyone talks about tha anymore. Same thing happened with camera. 14.5 mega pixels. 20 mega pixels.. No one really knew about sensor size which was more important than pixel size. Same with CD player. CD players are bulky granted. But CD > any mp3.. no matter how much sampling we do. Over a period they started downgrading the key features and promoted trivial features to make them change the product every so often. I am glad Apple doesn't make Washing machine, Refigerator, Television. People might replace every two years just to be in step with "latest and greatest technology"

People might replace every two years just to be in step with "latest and greatest technology" Agree with your general point but you also have to keep in mind the fact that customers now want smaller, thinner and lighter models in all devices, be it TV or laptop or music player or camera etc and companies can only fit in certain things in such small devices.

There was one facebook sharing of "thinnest phone" where customers lambasted the article for promoting thinness. It is a highly over-rated selling point.
