bones Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 When Rohit Sharma scored his 200 the other day, not that anyone was watching cause ODIs are so pointless, but when he did the instant reaction from everyone was, was is on a proper wicket or was a typical Indian surface with mini boundaries. India has a reputation of preparing flat tracks and rightly so, because of how unfair they are for bowlers. Even in England if the wickets are flat, there is some pace and some movement to work with, which is why no one has and probably never will score 200 there. I'm with Cook on this one, 4 double hundreds, aren't all 4 in India? Kind of sums up the point nicely.
moniker Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Indian pitches are roads but visiting batsmen are not skilled enough to extract the maximum out of them. Flat track bullying is a skill in itself where you throw away all your inhibitions and bat with complete freedom. Other teams aren't capable of doing that.

I'm pretty sure there are a few players around the world capable of doing that, Warner, Watson, Gayle, De Villiers to name a few. Maybe if a crap batsman like Rohit can score, then other crap batsmen could do it as well. The problem is, the rest of the world don't get as many flat wickets to play on regularly, so not as used to the conditions.

Its not just we have flat wkts but also to with the impact of T20 and IPL . Finch scored 150 in a T20 match which was in england .Its just the way cricket is evolving
JaFanatic Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 ^Dhawan too scored 248 in sa was well set to score a 300 before he got out in the 45th over

In other words, INdians are on god mode in India, but visitors seldom reach those levels. As I've already demosntrated with stats, visitors in Eng average as much as in India since WC 2011.

vvvslaxman Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 They are roads. It was established in the slogathan series vs Australia. Indians are used to pace of Indian pitches more than others. But we have the best resources to exploit this. Outside subcontinent NZ Is one place where our batting has a good chance of clicking big. Also we play IPL on these very same grounds. Several factors influence this.
Crookbond Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Foreign batsman can be criticized for failing on Indian pitches. However, Indian pitches are flat and India plays well on them. This doesn't mean the pitches are bad - that's the nature of pitches in India.
Insidious Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 See i am putting it in this way. The highest score in bellerive oval, Hobart is made by australia against zimbawe i.e. 344/7 in 50overs Now, 2nd second highest score in that ground is 321/3 by India in 36.4 overs at a whooping rr of 8.75 against Srilanka http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/team/highest_innings_totals.html?class=2;id=905;type=ground The ground belong to Australia, naturally they have played more matches than us, then why Aussies couldn't able to put a stellar performance against any top 8 team like India did against Srilanka? Any answer to this? IMO every countries has flat wickets, but they don't have the batsman who could play a long innings and put a 400+ total. so to belittle an individual or a team performance because of flat wicket is total BS.
vvvslaxman Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Mindset has changed a lot. Srikkanth played like this even in the 80s. THen Viru in the 2000s. Jayasuriya, Afridi, Kapil dev.to name a few. Now everyone plays.
vvvslaxman Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 WOrld cricket lacks all season bowlers who can do well across the countries.. That is also a factor. Mitch is a beast in SA/OZ. But in Dubai Misba of all the people made fastest Test century against MJ and co.

Ball seamed a lot. It was a bit two paced at the start. At once, they were scoring at less than 5 rpo.
rkt.india Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 A fast bowler is the highest wicket taker in this series, gives you an Idea about flat pitches. On those same pitches last year, Shami wrecked Aussies where even Johnson was belted.
