Terror Attacks in Kashmir Ahead of PM Modi's Monday Trip to Srinagar Srinagar: In a series of terror attacks in Kashmir, large parts of which will vote on Tuesday in a staggered election, 13 people were killed today. In addition to a civilian, nine soldiers and three policemen were killed, marking the heaviest losses for security forces in the state in over six years. Kashmir has in recent days held two of five phases of voting, with a record number of people participating in the election, defying a boycott called by separatists. Today's attacks - the gravest was on an Army camp in the border town of Uri - were condemned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "desperate attempts to derail the atmosphere of hope and goodwill as seen by increased voter turnout." One of the attacks was at Srinagar, where the PM is due to campaign on Monday. Two terrorists were killed after they opened fire on a police post in the heart of the city. In Uri, just 100 km away, an artillery camp was the target of a massive suicide attack early this morning. Nine soldiers, including an officer, and three policemen were killed. Six terrorists were shot dead. Sources say food packets and other items recovered from the terrorists had stamps of Pakistan. Six assault rifles and more than 50 magazines were found on the attackers. They had ten grenades each. Army sources also say the staging camp used for the terrorists is in Pakistan, just a few kilometres from the Line of Control or LoC. "I think Pakistan should try to stop these incidents, if they can't they should speak to India about it," said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag will visit Srinagar on Saturday. Two people were killed in grenade attacks in Tral and Shopian in South Kashmir. The result of the state election will be announced on December 23. Led by an expansive campaign by the Prime Minister, the BJP is making its most serious bid yet for the state, banking on votes in the Hindu-majority Jammu and Buddhist Ladakh areas. It is also capitalising on the rise of independents and splits elsewhere in Muslim-majority Kashmir.

Discovered MRE packets in their belongings. This was a straight up Jihadi Army operation. Time to let the arty regiment in the area loose. To hell with the GD elections as Kashmir will be burning in 2015 regardless.

India needs to take down Hafeez Saeed by any means. That will shake the Jihadis up that India can take them down even inside Pakistan. Also India needs to hit back and hit back hard.Just like we did on the LOC.Now they will think 10 times before firing on the LOC.

Just make peace with China at all costs' date=' and then f up the pakis.[/quote'] Not really. India has no reason to concede to China since China is an equal partner (along with USA and UK) in propping up the frankenstein monster that is Pakiland. Besides, what makes you think China wants to play bhai-bhai with India?

But for this to be fesible india has to concede Tawang and tibetans and China has to concede all territorial demands and give up paks - probably wont happen.

The problem with our padosis, along with their stockholm syndrome..........is their fetish for martyrdom.......you can easily manipulate uneducated people........ If India is to ever regain the area of Gilgit-Baltinstan........it's going to require a massive civilian revolt against the illegal, puppet govt that is in place in G-B.......a successful army operation without local support is nearly impossible and therein lies the problem........a good amount of the local populace of G-B have been shunted out of their region and have been replaced by the P-Punjabis and Mirpuris........so there will be a good amount of civilian revolt and violence against the IA......tricky situation......

Naah.It will strike fear in the hearts of these terror leaders that they are not safe even inside Pakistan.
Pakis won't get scared until Doval and company start taking out serving and retired generals of Jihadi army. Hafiz Saeeds of the world are pawns only. The elites of Pakistan aren't so different than those that reside in Lutyens. These ****ers don't give two hoots about conflict at the border, bomb blasts in local markets as long as their enclaves are safe and clean. India needs to target their elites (which includes the generals and officer class of the army). Rest is all noise.

With India's strategic dominance over Indian ocean terriroty, just garcia will remain for the US , even their 7th fleet will eveentually give way to Indian and Chinese naval dominance of the region. India dominates the oceans, china dominates the high mountains and china sea, would be strategically perfect but will not happen because of one fundamental issue. We just dont think alike, us and chinese.

i always wonder what options India really has in terms of covert operations in pakiland, much too little i suppose outside of Baluchistan, forget G_B and Muzzafrabad, it must be crawling with ISI or even ISIS now.

China wants the biggest seat at the table. Why should India oblige? I mean if we are heading back to pre 18 - 19 century days, when the power centre resided in Asia, shouldn't India be getting that big seat?
