G_B_ Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 The Driver has deleted the Uber app from the phone. Also the phone no. he gave wasnt registered in his name. But they have his address name etc etc and that driver is from UP. .....
Desi Cartman Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I'm not sure if kaali peeli taxi drivers have background checks done. If they can be made mandatory for all drivers then why not. I'm not sure if it would have been any different had this guy been driving 2323 or yellow cabs or the old kaali peeli taxi.
hhunaeh Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 The app, the advertizing gives one a sense of security. If they haven't done back ground checks they should let people know, so that women understand that UBER is no better than any other auto or taxi. It may even be worse than the traditional taxis because you don't even need to go through the trouble of painting you vehicle in black and yellow. If the lady had known this she might not have felt comfortable enough to doze off in the cab.
hhunaeh Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Let people know that you/UBER are just an app on a mobile and have little to do with actual running and monitoring of taxis on the ground.
Stuge Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 there goes Uber terms and conditions in terms of security
Khalpat Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 AAP and NSUI are protesting in front of Rajnath Singh house against Modi and his government due to this incident. Exactly what they are demanding is unclear. As per TOI newspaper, the series of events: 1. She went to Gurgaon pub, had some drink and dinner. 2. Then she went to Vasant kunj Pub and had some more drink. 3. She calls a Taxi through the App. 4. As soon as she sits in the taxi, due to too much of heavy drinking she fells asleep. 5. Taxi driver takes advantage of this and rapes her. In New Delhi, Uber or non Uber, Meru or auto if the above series of events are true, it is most probable that more than 50% of the drivers would have done the same. I might be wrong but what exactly has the Home Minister got to do with this.
Stuge Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Those who believe Uber shouldn't be dragged can read the above and decide that it's better to treat Uber like yellow and black taxis.. Thats it.

Delhi police answers to center. Till now policy has swiftly acted and caught the person. People need to realize this country is still not safe for woman to go around at night. A

It would have made sense to protest before the rapist was caught. It seems police did a good job in this case. So what exactly is the demand of AAP snd NSUI. I might be missing something.
Gambit Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Cops had no idea about Uber and did not know how to contact Uber officials. So they downloaded the app, called a cab and then asked the driver to take them to Uber's office (in Gurgaon).
game_changerr Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 no doubt.the rapist deserve to be punished heavily,,,,,,but why lady was roaming from one pub to another,,,,when she already had food/dring in one pub ...she went to another more drinks..
asterix Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 There are lessons to be learnt for authorities, cab companies and also the commuters... I gather AAPtards have a strong presence in Bangaluru... Haven't heard any news of them protesting against the state govt. for a series of sexual assaults on kids/minors in various city schools? Even after the authorities have supposedly laid down so many strict rules for all the schools, these incidents have continued in the city...
panesarv Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Uber is a very unethical company. Don't expect them to spend money where they don't have to.

Khalpat Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 AAP is asking for action against Uber. Ok, but IMO Uber is being made scapegoat. Forget about any cab driver, let see if you want to do a background check of the guys who are member of ICF, how would you do that? Is there any system in place in India to do a background check other than ofcourse the police verification which costs a mere Rs 2000/- in NCR and police officer without even seeing the face of person will give police verification certificate. Is there any system where I can provide the Driving License or PAN number of a person and will be able to get his past criminal records?
Number Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Uber Banned. :WTF: Now lets ban BJP and Congress too for Maderana and Nihal Chand.
asterix Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 AAP is asking for action against Uber. UBER banned in Delhi....
