Before this match Lyon averages 50 in test cricket this year.So how is he better than indian spinners? He is bowling better becoz he is experienced in these conditions and their pace bowlers are dominant making it easy for him. When he comes to subcontinent he will get smacked like happened in UAE Its not waning its the same.In 90s Kumble was repeatedly outbowped but opposition spinners overseas too.

BUT - he has always been backed by an aggressive captain, even though clarke (yes even clarke) went defensive after Vijay tonked lyon earlier on. An aggressive mindset changes everything, thats why moeen succeeded and thats why lyon got a couple. Our spinners have been plagued with MS Dhoni's defensive thinking. Thats one reason they aren't as threatening.

yeah but lyon ali don't play ODI one day, then t20 the next and then tests. Its quite hard to keep adjusting your lengths and strategy. Ive been saying this for 5 years now- BCCI needs to produce test only specialists so that techniques don't get poisoned by LOI.
