Relevant to suit the conditions or not is a different thing. Dhoni's possible XI: Dhawan, Vijay, Chepu, Kohli, Rahane, Dhoni, Jadeja, Ashwin, Ishant, Aaron, Shami The XI that I would play: Dhawan, Vijay, Chepu, Kohli, Rahane, Dhoni, Ashwin, Ishant, Aaron, Shami, Yadav Actually, the only silver lining for us at Gabba is that if somehow we can get Warner and Smith out early, Aussi batting is as much at sea as we are.... As of today (on current form) 1) Dhawan (Still not convinced with his technique as a test player overseas)<<<<<< Warner (is bound to fail after back to back tons, also we need to get him early to have any realistic chance.) 2) Vijay >> Rogers (The former is in the form of his life the latter is struggling for a while now) 3) Pujara >>> Watson (Pujara will score a big pretty soon. Was unlucky in the first innings, Watson is out of form like Rogers) 4) Kohli >>>> Clarke's replacement (Marsh or whoever) Nothing to say really. 5) Rahane < Smith (Smith is playing awsome cricket off late. Is yet to be dismissed in this series) 6) Sharma << M.Marsh (Tailunt is a Nohit as always. We need to go with Raina I feel.) 7) Dhoni < Haddin

Overall Dhoni has a poor record in tests in crunch situations as compared to Haddin. Haddin has played many a fighting innings for Australia, especially after a mini collapse like against SA in 2009/10 and Ashes 2011. If the ball is doing aeven a little, I would pick Haddin anyday over Dhoni (though both are not good enough ala Gilchrist/Sangakkara). Also, as much as Dhoni is an ATG in ODI's, his wicketkeeping skills are inferior to Haddin (except perhaps stimping).

But I heard Kohli say in some presentation ceremony that Karn was bowling the best in nets. Was it in reality or just a feel good media statement?

If you have 3 spinners bowling in the nets, and you are picking the least experienced guy, it better be because he's bowling well. Otherwise, why would you select him?

In general yes. In this case, not necessarily bro. In press conference, Kohli is pretty measured. Every Indian captain is. Dhoni in England praised Jaddu and then dropped him eventually. So a media statement can mean 2 things: 1. It is the truth 2. It is just a feel good media statement

But yeah he only prefers Mohit Sharma who never played test cricket under Dhoni .
