bowl_out Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 The idea of a Separate test team makes sense. But some names listed are pathetic...Shikar Dhawan in a Test exclusive squad? We already have 3 players who are purely Test match players - Vijay, Pujara, Rahul Rahane and Kohli will make it to all formats of the game... Need to find one more Test only player, and our batting order is set.

Vijy Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Is Rishi Dhawan as bad as people make him out to be? It's Division C, and the wickets have been helpful, but his batting avg has been pretty decent too. I don't see why he would do any worse than our current trundlers and/or brainless quicks.

Another bowler, Ishwar Pandey has been dropped without even being tried once even in a dead rubber.:whack:
G_B_ Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I agree in theory I feel if Rahane cannot make an impact in the odi WC then its time for him to become a test specialist. Mooli, Rahul Che etc already are test specialists i feel.

Infact..will be great if there is complete separation of bowlers between Test and ODI/T20 as the skill sets are different all together. As seen in the last 3-4 years...Indian Test bowlers cant seem to keep the ball in the same line/length for a duration. They seems suitable for max a session of day. Will Test specialist bowlers...hopefully they will be able to keep pressure on for the full day..& will know when to attack full on & when to maintain pressure. This applies to both quick and specially spinners.

But I don't think removing Sharma from the ODI team is a good idea. We also have to stop relying so much on all rounders. Maybe 1 every match is OK, but they can't replace specialist bowlers.

Rohit Sharma has played a grand total of 11 test matches (19 innings) and averages 40 with 2 centuries and 2 fifties. But people are acting like he's the worst Indian player to don the white shirt. Ishant Sharma is easily our best test bowler. Rohit Sharma would walk in to any ODI team in the world, including Australia. He is one of the best ODI batsman in the world and people think he should be replaced. India does not have ATG batsman waiting for a chance to get in the team. :facepalm:

Pakistan - Anyone but mainly Shehzad/Hafeez since they both open England - Anyone (except Root and Cook) South Africa - de Kock Sri Lanka - Anyone (except Matthews and Dilshan) but mainly Thirimanne since they both open Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Ireland - Anyone... And here you have India, which has people who think Rohit should be kicked out of even their ODI team (because we have 11 other ATG batsman waiting to be selected)... :facepalm:
