The format of the WC is that we will reach Q/F and if we win it we are in semis, which would mean we had a decent world cup. Personally I would have called the team back to India for 10 days so they get a break. The long tour can be mentally tiring irrespective of how many matches you have played. BCCI has all the money in the world and can let players go back for a week or thereabouts and hopefully re-assemble few days before the WC all refreshed. WC is a long tourney and the team can't afford to be burnt out & jaded before the busniess end of the tournament.

By that time if our batting comes together then who knows.

Everything's up in the air in a knockout game and one innings can transform the match and tourney. This sort of format works for us as we can figure out our best combination by the time knockouts arrive. The only thing I'm worried about is player burnout as the team has been on the road for a long time - hardly the best way to approach a taxing tourney such as the WC.

Desi Cartman Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 They are getting 15+ days rest NOW. How many more days rest do they need? Plus, they got practice in AUS for 2 months with the bounce and pace of the wickets. Or they would have played in India against SL again and won 7-0 and come guns slinging only to get destroyed by even the likes of Ireland and complain they couldn't get used to the AUS pitches. This is the perfect way for them to go to the WC - with proper preparation. If they lose with this much preparation - they have only themselves to blame. No other team other than AUS and NZ have this much practice before WC. We have SERIOUS edge as we know which grounds have what kind of pitches etc. And also judge the ideal score etc. Even our bowlers - although they suck - they still have an edge over for example guys like WI and even SL etc. who didn't have any experience in AUS tracks before hand - they know what line and length gets wickets at least by watching AUS and ENG worldclass bowlers bowl... Are they going home for 15 days? They need to get away from this as its good for them to relax and recharge batteries, perhaps too late now.

The guys will give their every thing and will not take off guard. SF is sure for India. Final with 25% chance. India are slow starters in every WC, no need to panic as yet.
