Australia points out how they help indonesia during tsunami. Looks like Indonesia is in no mood to budge.
hhunaeh Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Two australian women were returned to australia in the last few years. I believe both were convicted of smuggling drugs. Both were imprisoned in a south east asian nation, indonesia i believe. I don't know about this case, but in last few years there have been cases which looked like the problem india is facing with the italian marines. They come to these countries, break their laws and get away, with the help of their governments. I don't support death penalty but they can't keep bending over, and letting criminals go just because they are from a richer country.
vvvslaxman Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 Majority of the countries have death penalty especially Asia for drug smuggling.
gattaca Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 What's the percentages of Tamils in Malaysia ? I remember they did dharnas and rioting couple of years ago.
Clarke Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Death penalty for drug smuggling is just pathetic, although not as gross as it is for blasphemy.
Raghav_12 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Another similar case from 3 decades ago http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barlow_and_Chambers_execution

Texan Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 While what they did was reprehensible, death penalty for crimes such as these is even more condemnable. You can see a common thread among the countries that have laws that punish relatively less severe crimes with such inhumane punishments.

He was like 21.. did something stupid. didn't realize consequence. But the contention of the president is 18000 people die every year because of these guys. They are punishing these guys badly on a hypothesis. That guy has told zero tolerance. They have already executed one brazilian guy and brazil withdrew their envoy. Just did a search on this guy.. there is so much support coming for him. But looks like they are going to go ahead with execution.

Reading more about the guy and how he has changed the prison, and the age at which he committed this crime this is utterly foolish. Feel for the guy.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 This new President seems like an idiot.Brazil withdrew its envoy after the Indo President rejected a direct request by the Brazilian President. The dutch have also withdrawn their envoy after a direct request by the Dutch PM and Dutch King was rejected by the Indo President. Now they are doing it with Australia.Basically this guy is creating a diplomatic quagmire for himself. Its basic diplomatic courtesy that if you get a request from the head of the state of another country you tactically keep it.Such rejections means that the other countrys head loses face in his own country and has to act to counter it.Indonesia is making a huge mistake.

Crookbond Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Majority of the countries have death penalty especially Asia for drug smuggling. In Singapore, it is written in bold on the landing card itself - DEATH BY LAW FOR DRUGS
