sachin34357 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 SRINAGAR – Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister – Mufti Mohammad Sayeed – raged a controversy soon after he took oath of office and secrecy on Sunday. In a news conference in Jammu, Mufti said that Hurriyat, Pakistan and militants allowed a conductive atmosphere for the recently held Assembly elections in the State. “I want to put this on record and I told the Prime Minister also… that if (separatists) they would do something untoward, there would not be such a participation of people,†Mufti said, adding that they also allowed this democratic process to go ahead. However, he emphasized on the need to have a dialogue with leaders of pro-freedom group Hurriyat saying that they have a viewpoint which needs to be taken into consideration. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was among the first to react. Quoting Mufti’s statement, Omar wrote on micro-blogging website twitter, “I guess we should be grateful for their generosity.†In his following tweet, Omar asked the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party to “please explain roll of security forces & polling staff considering your CM just said “Pakistan allowed elections in J&Kâ€.†Mufti’s comments were highlighted by national news television channels raising huge public uproar. " Did the Central Govt request Pak and it's Terrorists for a conducive atmosphere ? This is what Najam Sethi was referring to last year when there was intense firing along the LOC and the foreign secretary talks were called off . He stated that this is just playacting by Ind & Pak govts before the J&K elections and correctly predicted that talks will begin after elections when J&K Govt is formed and LOC firing will also die down. Reported few days ago : " In a bid to restart dialogue with Pakistan, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar is all set to travel to Islamabad on March 3 as part of the SAARC Yatra, sources told The Indian Express on Tuesday. " Last year , Sushma Swaraj had mentioned that Pakistan had spoilt the atmosphere by talking to Hurriyat separatists . Now what has changed ? Have they stopped sponsoring Terrorists ? Have they shut down all the terror camps ? Playacting is Ok modijee...but don't play with the lives of soldiers.

TBF, it is Mufti that is making unnecessary comments and trying to undermine the role that security forces play in maintaining peace in the state. Both Kashmir and Pak need to be brought in line In a fractured vote, the political parties have to get in to compromise. Politicians such as Mufti should not press their luck too far

While some people may say call it opportunism while I take it as the maturity of Indian democratic system where two parties ideologically completely opposite come together, suppressing their core agendas to provide a government to the state. Kudos. This was the best outcome that could have happened with the elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This is first step of Modi which I support wholeheartedly. There were calls and there would be calls from extremists and sangh khandan, but withstanding those and making a decision which is in best interest of country is very worthy of congratulations. Hope this coalition survives conflicts and voices from internal extremists.

But it seems he, his daughter, his party and many people of the valley have some confusion regarding their country name. With most humbleness I would like to let you know one thing sir, country is like your father and it is very unfortunate to have confusion regarding your father. Please remove your confusion and accept your "Janamdaata" as your father or else it is very difficult for Basterds to survive in any society.

This will be a difficult coalition. But if BJP can handle it with maturity, it'll be great... Breaking the alliance is the easiest thing to do...

Cant but help that Pakistan and the Hurriyat backed of their agenda cause the BJP might just have got votes in the kashmir region via the pandit vote. Obviously top marks to our forced as well. BSF especially are doing a stellar job. Now that Mufti has made his statements, i hope he will keep quiet and allow focus on development via infrastructure etc which generates jobs in all regions.

It reminds me of the Gandhi-Abdullah alliance in the mid 80s which was a major factor in the rise of violent militancy in Kashmir.
