Crashing down to reality - 3rd Test squad vs Pak, 2007-08

then he shouldn't be fielding.
I think he is almost 100% fit, which is the reason why he took the field, but they are just wary of aggravating the injury. Obviously, running around the field and throwing a few balls in is a lot less intensive than bowling full pelt 18-20 overs a day.

Oh well here is an opportunity for the newbies to come up trumps. Lest this way they get to play a high pressure game and at home. Rather than play Australia in Australia it's good to play this Pakistan team in India. If they are good enough they should grab this opportunity and make good use of it.

RP Singh fielded on and off for 3 days- why isn't he fit enough to play?
Not fit to bowl: Dard-e-bowlers Fast bowlers are the key if India are to repeat their 2003-4 performance in Australia. However, with S. Sreesanth ruled out due to a shoulder injury and the other four main bowlers suffering niggles, the national selectors were forced to name 24 probables instead of announcing a 16-man squad for the Test series Down Under. The following are the bowlers who are carrying injuries. Let's hope they are available for selection when the squad is finalised on December 12. ZAHEER KHAN Nature of injury: Has a problem with his landing heel. Suffered the injury during the Kolkata Test. Is rested for the third Test as a precautionary measure. If fit, will spearhead the attack in Australia. RUDRA PRATAP SINGH Nature of injury: Side strain. Was on the bench in the first two Tests against Pakistan and is rested for the third. Likely to be available for the Australian tour. MUNAF PATEL Nature of injury: Mild back strain on the right side, which restricts muscle movement. The injury-prone speedster is rested for the Bangalore Test as a precautionary measure and is likely to be available for selection. AJIT AGARKAR Nature of injury: Sore shoulder. The speedster, who hasn't played a Test for almost two years, suffered the injury during Mumbai's Ranji Trophy tie against Maharashtra. While he has been rested for the next match, the Mumbai team doctor assures he should be fit in five days.

What kind of person wishes for HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED IN AN INDIAN TEST SIDE to be available for test selection? Aussie opening batsmen, stop using Chandan's account!

Yeah, I noticed. But more than yr reason for bumping it (which I still don't agree with - Ishant's bloody talented, but I still think it's best if we nurture youth and not throw them all in too early - risking destroying some great young talents), I noticed Chandan's sacrilegious post actually nominating the Purveyor of Crap as a test bowler... yuck.

Aussie opening batsmen' date=' stop using Chandan's account![/quote'] That was just to show how many bowlers are/were injured at that time. BTW, do you think Agarkar's career in international cricket is over? Shouldn't we use him for those useless ODIs which have hurt our test bowlers? If we rotate the bowlers available to us cleverly indstead of playing them to death in those ODIs, we'll always have our first string attack available to us. Munaf, RPS, Sharma et al have to learn to hold bat and field well too. They were horrible on both fronts on many occasions. Who on earth is going to give a proper direction to these bowlers??

I have no problem with Agarkar bowling in one dayers - after all, the ten over maximum he's allotted gives him a limit on how much he can hurt India. In tests it is far worse - a truly painful prospect. The thought alone is sickening of him running in, fire in the eyes, gas in the belly and ears blocking the sightscreen, for some 20 overs a day - with his typically pathetic economy rate, the odd good karma wicket here or there caught in the deep or gifted by a generous tailender (and followed by the trademark pump of the fist), and trademark unparalleled ability to undo all the good that the other bowler(s) he bowls with/against have worked for. We've all seen enough of it. A good spell from a seamer, Kumble probing away at the other end and building up pressure - and suddenly on comes Aag, dishing out his usual brand of crap all over the place. A half volley there, a leg stump full toss here and then a wide long hop to atone (and torment some OTHER advertisement board on the boundary) and suddenly it's as if the good bits never happened. No, we don't need Agarkar in test cricket. Keep him away from the game, for the greater good.
