PBN Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Good bowling indeed. Watson was just stationary and taking his eyes off the ball, looked like a sitting duck. Smith played Waham better in the opening spell..was getting inside the line of the ball easily for the shorter deliveries.

In general bowlers are only going to get get quicker and batsmen get better. Still if there is someone regularly getting 160+ would be fun to watch after seeing what well directed 145-148 left arm can do!

It is very rare to see top batsmen get out to yorkers. Short balls are definitely more effective. BTW, Wahab has a great yorker as seen by some of his death bowling CWHhm8g7JJU

Any delivery that troubles a batsman has to well directed and used as a surprise element. Even the likes of Tendulkar or Dravid have been bowled with yorkers. IIRC, considering Smith shuffles across his stumps at times before the ball is delivered, he was bowled in the tri series with a fuller yorker length delivery bowled around his legs.
