Kohli and Rahane the biggest culprits

45 runs between them from 81 balls in a match when the RR was nearly 6.5 per over. Sucked the momentum and everything out of our innings today. Kohli's inability to get going at all, and Rahane's lack of match awareness (just needed to rotate strike to Dhoni as much as possible), meant that we were goners. I still don't understand the Rahane hype. The guy was a ****ing deer in headlights today, and the way he got out by lamely edging behind was .

India needed a near perfect game ' date=' lot of luck to win. Considering many many things didn't go our way.. post mortem is an useless exercise methinks.[/quote'] India got the perfect start. They could not have asked for a better start IMO. They would have taken 76-1 after 13 overs any day. But the middle order lost the game from such a favorable position. So it is right to call them out. It does not change anything but somebody has to share the blame.

13 good overs out of a 50 overs won't give us the true picture.

The point is the chase was going as per plan or even better till then. We lost the game in the next 10 overs. It is a failure of the middle order. The pitch played true till the end. We should have been able to at least get close with such a good start. So it is right to blame the middle order.

Also you forgot Lord Rohit Sharma. Dot dot dot dot 6 dot dot dot dot dot 1 dot dot dot. This guy never rotates strike tgereby the non striker stranded for long time without strike and gets out. Makes a century once every 8 matches against weak opposition and livescon it for years. Big momentum sucker.

Rahane got praise from MSD in the press conference but he always gives the feeling he is not a ODI player, hitting countless number of balls straight to the fielders. He is brilliant test batsman, good T20 batsman and an ordinary ODI batsman. He shouldnt be in the ODI squads from now on but in reality he will be.

Yes.. Middle order failure can be attributed to pathetic lower order. They just cannot afford to lose wickets. we can go round and round . At the end of the day many players did not turn up. OnlY Ashwin did okay. OUr fielding was okay. Dhawan lucked his way to 45. Other than that there was no bright spot in our performance.

Kohli needed to step up big time today, even a fluent run a ball 30 would've been nice. All of us fans are hard done by him. I just hope he learns from his mistakes. As for rahane, he's not quite ODI material. His stats speak for themselves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Also how can you forget' date='that we cant play spin. Glenn Maxwell. 5 overs 18 runs . Enough said.[/quote'] that was Rahane. Some 20 balls 8 runs against Maxwell.

Rohit + Rahane + Kohli + Raina = 86 off 140 balls (23 Overs @ 3.7 RR ) we allowed Maxwell to bowl 5 overs for just 18 runs and Hazelwood went for just 41 in his 10 . It was an EPIC CHOKE. They could also have rotated the strike and taken singles like MSD.
