sensible-indian Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 @radhika - You told me you were a guy in the other thread. Trolled me eh? :haha:
beetle Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 ^^^Why this or that....why not both. Except for cheating on spouse...which is about hurting others...everything is about herself...so why just this or that. Why not chase your dreams, make your parents proud, make your country proud, chose to have sex when you are ready and want, chose to love anyone without discrimination......her body ,her mind, her choice. And why just Deepika?....Deepika and Deepak both......

Why not chase your dreams, make your parents proud, make your country proud, chose to have sex when you are ready and want, chose to love anyone without discrimination......her body ,her mind, her choice. The issue was about cheating. When you (meaning Deepika not you) bring in an erroneous example to make your point, it kinda destroys the whole credibility of your statement. No one here has an issue with females wanting to have sex before marriage or after their divorce or even by having an arrangement with her husband if its a dead marriage wherein both parties are staying together for social reasons and for the sake of kids. Also....feminism is all about equal rights. Wearing modern clothes, having sex with whoever one wants to have with, working after marriage is ONE's own choice and a husband should respect it. BUT AT THE SAME TIME... If a husband wants to have a housewife, someone who wears dress according to traditional ways, someone who has to follow the religious customs of the house and ALL OF THIS is mentioned and discussed before the marriage....that's fine too. Those guys are not pigs or sexists. Modern feminists (not all) kinda present the latter as oppressors when its hardly true.

If one wants a wife to stay at home ...don't go about looking for a working girl and convince her to change her mind. Look for a girl who doesn't want to be a career girl.(I am one of those...happy to be a stay at home mom...there are enough out there.) If one wants to marry a girl who wears traditional clothes at home because it is not right for them to wear western clothes in front of in laws....then look for traditional girls....don't look for girl's who look hot enough to show to friends....and then change her. Be real...not a hypocrite. Same with everything else. Want a virgin...stay a virgin. want a working wife...be ready to chip in with house work. P.S...why do men get to wear non traditional clothes in front of one and all ?Why the hypocrisy?

Too bad a lot of people in this world are inherently stupid. And they don't talk and set expectations before marriage. Sometimes you might fall in love with a working person. In those times, its critical for both the persons to sit down and talk and sort out what's what. Even then there is no guarantee someone might not change their mind after marriage but it atleast gives one's marriage the best possible chance.
zubinpepsi Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 A video featuring Deepika Padukone—in which the Bollywood actress is talking about the prerogative of choice—is now a viral hit. The video is part of Vogue Empower, an initiative that the fashion magazine launched in October last year to mark its seventh anniversary in India. Padukone’s video ‘My Choice’ aims to bring awareness to the cause of women’s right nationwide. Directed by Homi Adjania, who worked with Padukone in films like Finding Fanny and Cocktail, the video features 98 other women, including Adjania’s wife, film critic Anupama Chopra, actress Nimrat Kaur and director Zoya Akhtar. The fashion magazine is also selling Vogue Empower merchandise on Amazon. Vogue and Padukone have a lot in common: They’re both from an industry that is based on fetishising, objectifying and reinforcing sexist standards of beauty on women. So when these two forces combined talk about women empowerment, one is left a bit confused, because, let’s be honest, the fashion and Bollywood do not empower anyone—women most of all. Fashion and Bollywood thrive on women’s insecurities about themselves and their bodies. They are the propaganda machines of an ultra-narcissistic culture that is constantly telling us the right and the wrong way to do things. Padukone has been vying for the spot of a confident empowered woman for over a year now. Last year, she put her foot down against a sensational post about her by the Times of India newspaper. More recently, she went public and confessed about her state of depression, and the recovery thereafter. She has even launched Live Love Laugh, a foundation for those battling depression and other mental health issues. However, she continues to appear in movies or songs that objectify women in the worst possible manner. In her last film, Happy New Year, released in December 2014, she performed a pole dance for an item number. In the song, she is referred to as the “the hottest firecracker.” Now, she is talking about the right to choose. In 1991, American author Naomi Wolf argued that as women gain social power and prominence, they are under pressure to adhere to arbitrary physical standards or beauty. In her book, The Beauty Myth, she wrote, “More women have more money and power and scope and legal recognition than we have ever had before; but in terms of how we feel about ourselves physically, we may actually be worse off than our un-liberated grandmothers.” The basic problem with the likes of Vogue and Padukone appropriating women’s rights is that, they do nothing for women. They talk about the prerogative of choice, but they don’t explain the burden of those choices. They talk about empowerment when they are themselves slave to consumerism. Freedom and empowerment is not something that can be sold through the glossy pages of a magazine. It can only come through experience and self-knowledge. What Vogue and Padukone are doing is merely telling a whole generation of women to grow up in a bimbo culture—women can be comfortable with the choices they have made, as long as they fit the stereotypical definition of beauty and conform to the latest fashion trends. Though the video is being enthusiastically lauded on social media, here are some contrasting observations that too deserve attention. 1
jusarrived Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Have you even read the post/posts?Poster dekh kar .......:ridinghorse:mat karo My views.....don't get married if you can't stay faithful. Marriage is not to be entered lightly. It is a secure place for man, woman and children.....a commitment to each other. Some times things dont exactly go according to plan . I dont think anyone one goes into a marriage thinking of cheating .I have seen so many divorce cases lately where there is no one to blame or not one person to blame .

True.....sometimes Sh*t happens. Bad luck .sometimes people turn out different from what one imagined or people change, evolve, grow, grow out of love, never fall in love at all(specially in arranged marriages) But getting into marriage thinking Sh*t is ok is not right......i.e thinking extramarital affairs are ok (like in the film).
CSK Fan Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 True.....sometimes Sh*t happens. Yeah, legally and morally marriage is a contract your are getting into with responsibilities. You cannot just go back on that according to your conveniences or change in tastes. Nowadays you even have options to get out of a marriage if you think it is not working

Those guys are not pigs or sexists. Modern feminists (not all) kinda present the latter as oppressors when its hardly true. See, the thing I don't like about this is one human being imposing his views on another. 100% the guy will not like it if the women dictates how he dresses or whether he works or not. In the name of tradition you cannot kill off the potential of another human being. It is not ok in my book and is borderline oppression Think of it this way. You are an adult human being with your ambitions. Will you let go of everything just to marry someone, kill all your potential and just stay at home? Also, human beings change their minds a lot. Have you ever thought of changing your entire career? I am doing that currently. Now imagine you said yes to staying at home and in 10 years you are fed up with life. You are highly intelligent and have immense potential. All this is just killed of in the name of tradition IMO, no human being should have such kind of right.

CSK Fan Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 is there any law against women not being able to bear children? It can be grounds for divorce. There have been cases when the husband did not even go to the wife and then claimed she was sterile
