Should have been in instead of Mithun. Why is Umesh there too? Do they want our only 140 kmph bowler ground to the ground. He is a test regular , should not be playing A team matches. There is a tour to SL at the end of July isnt there? No break for him? Sandeep should have replaced him, in this squad. And someone else gone to Zim Rishi Dhawan has been a genuine all rounder in FC cricket, why not test him against A teams? Didnt see his name. There should have been two distinct squads for FC and List A matches. Uthappa, Manish, Jadahv and sandeep should have all featured in the List A squad against Aus A- and Uthappa and Sandeep could have played 4 day games too. I like the fact that Pujara captains, grreat to see Mukund in there and this otherwise is a good A team Umesh and Aaron need lots of first class experience. They don't have any. You cannot develop into a test class bowlers without bowling in first class games. You don't develop into a Dale Steyn by playing in T20 mickey mouse leagues. If they are not able to play in Ranji, they should at least play on the A tours. It is great to see Umesh and Aaron in A tour instead of the Zimbabwe tour. They can work on their control and their bowling against a strong A team.

They can work on their control and their bowling against a strong A team.[/quote'] I dont disagree entirely and fast bowlers need to bowl a decent amount to retain rhythm, BUT we tour SL soon, Umesh has been playing quite a lot over the last few months including IPL, World Cup and 3 tests in Aus. He is a test regular now, finally, not like he only plays T20 mickey mouse leagues. He needs a break more than the batsmen do. Varun should be playing in A team, yes

He is a batsman who can bowl like Rohit, Raina, etc.

I know we have to persist with him more so due to lack of a better alternative but they'd be discarded by now if they were playing for any country with good fast bowling stocks.

I would say he is bowling with alot more control in ODI cricket, still at a good pace too.

Yes that is a plus that he's maintained his pace, which Indian pacers often lose after couple of seasons but hasn't shown consistency with his control imo. Maybe its a confidence issue but he really needs to show some consistency now especially with a positive environment for quickies under Kohli in tests now.
