But not only stupid but liars too, repeating that Sachin joined congress 100 times will make it true right? :omg: I thought he was a Rajya Sabha MP You are so naive, Bharat Ratna involves a lot of political backing,manoeuvring etc. Best candidates never get it, those who help the political establishment get it, or else why would BJP give it to someone like Pt Madan Mohan Malviya and not some other great person, it is because he is seen as a right wing icon, was from Varanasi(Modi's seat) and is one of the founding members of Banaras Hindu University. Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar was a much greater man than Pt Malviya,; his contributions to simplify Bengali language, social reform movements(widow remarriage) and contribution to the Indian education system made him the leading light of Bengal renaissance, things which Malviyaji couldn't have done in 10 lifetimes. But he wasn't given Bharat Ratna by Modi govt, was he? Coming to Sachin, since he was retiring in 2013 and there was a lot of public nostalgia,goodwill,adoration because of his stellar 24 yr career, INC thought it best to induct him in the party as a MP, give him the Bharat Ratna and get more popular among the gullible Indian public. His Bharat Ratna was nothing but a cheapo to catch votes but unfortunately it didn't pan out the way 10 Janpath wanted and INC was massacred in the polls. What is there to lose for Sachin, majority don't care he joined the most corrupt Government in world history because they see him as a great sportsman, not a politician and guess what he gets Bharat Ratna in return, an offer he couldn't possibly refuse.
