They read it cover to cover just to debate. My guess she treated it as a text book just like history, geography and aced it. A bright student may be. Secularism doesn't have much relevance here.

A lot of Muslim families have other religious books in their house and it isn't seen as a problem. We are taught to respect other religions, something which the extremists don't follow and give a wrong impression of Muslims to the world, just because they are 'louder' than the rest. In fact there are many Christian schools in Pakistan, my mother went to one herself.
