beetle Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 I want to see this.... Love the song Calcutta Kiss! Saw the trailer...looks promising.
Deleted_User_1 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Horrible music and rapping in the background for a movie set in Calcutta and that too in 1943. Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay would barf if he was alive.
Clarke Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Our Sherlock Holmes with various incarnations. I was hoping for a serious type of character based on the tv show all of us cherished, this Kai Po Che actor seems different though and thats fine.
Rajiv Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Just came form the theatre, art is awesome but I was hoping for a dhasu suspense - became like a keema in the end. Now I am binge watching the original series on YT
Roshanrocks Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Saw the movie, pretty decent, totally unlike the usual fare bollywood dishes up...No melodrama, Decent comedy, not slapstick, more situational than one liners... No songs, Nice Trash metal background music (though very less maybe 2 times the whole movie).. Cinematogaphy was excellent, the 1940's setting was just lovely yo watch... The stopry is simple, SUpspense is very much guessable, but I still ended up enjoying movie, I hope the movie does well and comes up with a sequel.. In this movie Byomkesh Bakshi has just passed out from college and he gets his first case, he isnt quite a detective yet, he isnt the calm, brilliant detective with immense deduction skills.. He is more like a fresher joining any indusrty, has the talent, but confused, unsure of himself and makes mistakes here and there.. The acting is top notch, especially Dr.Basu (Neeraj Kabi ) and the heroine (Swastika), she just ooozes ooomph... I just hope the movie does well at the box office and we get a sequel, I like this regular normal bumbling detective... I want to see more character development, see him become more Sherlockesque... This movie might get around 3~3.5 from crictic out of 5. Its decent. But most wud not want to spned money on it in theters. I hope they do though...

I guess they didnt want to give a fresh college pass out an incredible brainy case...lol... or maybe they didnt find a more brilliant script... but the script sure is original.. I actually enjoyed the end... Enjoyed the possiblility of a rematch... U know what I mean..
achilles Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 It is phenomenal. Who says Indians can't make crisp mystery thrillers! This film is right up there with Sherlock Holmes.

Bro the film was so spectacular... the story, the plotlines, the twists, the background score, the dialogues.... it was edge-of-the-seat cinema at its best. I was mighty impressed with the film. It was worth the money I spent, which was quite high to be honest. The way they ended the film, I think they have left room for a sequel, which will be awesome.:hatsoff: Hopefully if we're in the same city, we will watch it together! :icflove:

Roshanrocks Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Jai!!! :sherlock: Whats ur take on the end twist? The one where they end it with a super trash metal score? I actually loved it..lol... more scope for sequel.. :--D David Vs Goliath part deux...
BlueBee Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 SSR's films are generally very good. Good chooser of films.

It was used very smartly and made the desired impact. :two_thumbs_up: Did you like the plot development in terms of the Doc's courier with the stamp?

What wud be the purpose to release tsomething like that to such a person..... It had me thinking for a while :hatsoff:
zombiePotato Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 No songs, Nice Trash metal background music Yeah, life's a bi*ch by Joint Family..Delhi's 1st Nu Metal band, was active during 2003-08. They had a cult following in the tiny Indian metal scene. Loved it in the climax scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGPh7QgW2_M
