Sandeep Sharma is swinging miles now at an increased pace

Because I have seen some spinners clocking 100 and 105 in IPL. Personally I can't remember exact instances but I do remember seeing quite a bit of erroneous stuff being shown. Its possible that it could be a case of a few instances (wrongly) shaping my views. Of course, he is looking to increase pace (I have read about it before) and that's why I said its great thing for us.
Speed guns do have some offbeat reading liek anureet singh clocking 148ks but its the average speed which matters and he has improved on that.

I know mate. :cantstop: Didn't want to state your name from there cos it may be against forum rules. Awesome. Any chance he is close to international quality right now or needs time to mature? Domestic stats look decent.
Difficult to say how mature Suyal is unless we watch him for a few matches on the trot. But, he did not look like an absolute rookie. Bowled with decent control and was bowling yorkers and attempted yorkers at the death.

Better then Bhuvi
Bhuvi looked good the last IPL he played. Was next best to Boult. Bhuvi once he gets fit and sorts out his issues will be a good bowler bcos he has one thing which Indian bowlers lack. Brains. I am positive that he won't fade away like others.

Sandeep has been consistently good whenever I have seen him, and unlike Bhuvi he has decent amount of pace. Seeing Bhuvi and Binny open the bowling was the worst thing I've EVER seen.

Bhuvi was bowling at the same pace in last IPL. Sandeep is young though and will gain more pace but he needs to sustain that pace over long spells. Bowls low 120s in Ranji.

I think there is a drastic difference in the speed guns used in ranji trophy and ipl/international matches. In ranji trophy every bowler bowls in low 120s which can't be true. Even varun aaron was 140 thereabouts in domestic matches whereas he is clearly 145+ bowler.

Are you talking about Sandeep Sharma ? He was between 131 to 138 k today. Most deliveries around 135/ 136 k.
Yeah, most deliveries were between 135-138 KPH, but he bowled 3-4 deliveries at around 140-142 KPH too. Need to gain more strength and speed as he is just 21 years of age. But even at his current speed with good swing he should make the Indian squad atleast, specially when few other bowlers are suffering from injuries and are not upto their best.

The reason for slow bowling in Ranji trophy is not speed guns but overuse of fast bowlers, since the advent of green grasslands as pitches in Ranji matches, spinners are not getting many overs and fast bowlers are being used all day like Donkeys. In his last domestic mtach, Varun Aaron was bowling decent reverse swing at 137-142 KPH in his 19th over for fecks sake !!

In Test matches, bowlers speed reduces (due to workload) or they conserve it purposely (and try to increase it during times when the ball is not doing much).

There is a difference between bowl 4 overs at one speed' date=' 10 overs at the same pace and bowling whole day without dropping pace.[/quote'] The point is he didn't bowl at this pace in the previous ipl tournaments.

The ability to bowl those quicker deliveries at 141 / 142 k is crucial too...it surprises batsmen. That he has been able to increase his speed, without losing swing or control, is a big plus for me. Now I would like to see how he bowls in 50 over and 5 day matches.
