This HUGE price tag IMO is the reason for unnecessary pressure...If he was paid 2-3 crores like many other Indian players with not much attention, he could have been free-flowing instead of defending balls and waiting for the loose ball,etc...
This. Personal insults on Yuvi is unfair. He has come back from frikking cancer and playing professional sport again. He's no where as good as before. People and team owners have to realize that fact and expect accordingly. IMO he's still good enough to participate in IPL (one of the top 7 bats in an IPL team's squad), but won't be a game changer consistently like a Gayle, Warner or ABDV. The main problem is the idiotic team owners who splurge on Yuvi at the auctions. That has a two-fold negative effect on the team. It weakens the squad as it doesn't have enough funds to spend on other good players. Also puts unrealistic pressure on Yuvi to perform beyond his abilities as a player at this moment. As Kalia said above, Yuvi would possibly have performed much better if he was sold around 2-3 crores and not attract undue attention.

The manner he's getting out shows that he doesn't cares... It doesn't betrays the fact that he's in some pressure to perform... He is not willing to apply himself to give himself a chance...he's been indifferent for so long in whichever team he plays...doesn't cares at all... A senior player like him should take some responsibility to build an innings... Dd should drop him from the team to put him out of his misery and pressure... He wouldn't have changed his attitude even if he was bought @ 2-3 Crores.... High price tag should've made him change his attitude and approach.... What's this BS that he's come back from fighting Cancer etc? So how long he's going to cash in that sympathy?

Regarding cancer .... nothing to do with cashing in or sympathy ... it's about not being able to come back to peak ability as a professional sportsman. The other things you said ... everybody looks bad when they aren't playing well, especially in T20 where the game moves so quick .... Yuvi was never a happy chap on the field (unlike someone like Raina) even when he was in brilliant form in 2007 or 2011 ... that may give you the impression he doesn't care.

Only in IPL
In tests for sure. In ODIs, his average is in the 30s. At least in ODIs has some marquee performances like Natwest, WC 2011, etc.

In test he was never hyped after earlier failures he was given chances and he failed ..its like saying raina is hyped in test which is not true. In Odis he was our biggest match winner and disputing that based on average is wrong without context as he rarely stayed not out and for most of his career his average for position he batted in was fine . India still does not has his replacement and that shows how valuable he was he was match winner who could play long inning, finish, hit like biggest hitter in world ..sure he had technical faults but let's not mix his IPL failures with his brilliant odi career as for me he was more valueable than some of so called greats in that format and will easily make my all time Indian odi 11

BTW another example of short memories is the fact that he was easily our best t20 batsman before cancer battle and one of the best in world ..that never translated in IPL but for India his record is fantastic in t20i

Rs. 16 Crores of DD gone down the drain... Let's keep this discussion to his IPL professionalism only... Let's not mix it with how he performed @ international level... Look the way he's getting out is trademark indifferent attitude, which he's has displayed in previous editions with other IPL teams... In yesterday's match, all he needed was to spend bit more time at the crease... Even if he'd played like Tiwary, DD would've won the match... They lost by just 6 runs.., As a senior player he needs to take some responsibility else he'll end up getting sidelined like Sehwag..... Sehwag is another player who gives a damn...
