Gollum Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 In Aus pitches he is weak(in ODIs). So we didn't see the best of him in the WC. I wouldn't draw any conclusions from his batting in IPL but hopefully we get the best out of him this winter. For some reason he has underperformed in home test matches.

For some reason he has underperformed in home test matches. he did not underperform he played most home tests early on and is getting better now and most of away tours happened after home tests. before australian series he had habit of scoring 100 and getting out and that explains not high average but now he is making bigger scores and i have no doubt same will happen at home .

Hope that is true. I feel he is a better player against the bouncing/seaming ball than swinging/spinning balls. His game is suited to Aus/NZ/RSA pitches more than Eng/Ind. Have more confidence in Vijay,Dhawan,Pujara in home tests as of now. Also eagerly waiting to see how Rahane does, he is a poor player of spin bowling by Indian standards.
jalebi_bhai Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I think Kohli should make a slight positional adjustment against swing. Should position himself at off and middle, enticing the bowler by slightly exposing his leg stump. Anything in the corridor of uncertainty, play with a straight bat. Anything too wide, just leave it. Anything on middle and leg, whip it using his strong leg-side stroke play. Worst case scenario, fielding side will place a short leg or a short square leg. He can negate that by playing it finer or more towards mid on. Just my mtc.

asterix Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 It was just a shortened match... 6 overs in the second innings... Don't read too much in it...
jalebi_bhai Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 But surely that will make him a prime candidate for LBW. It might. But his leg side game is very strong. It will be a test of his strength. His offside game is marred by his own confidence/over-confidence.
Pagalpanti Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Yep, remember how charged up he was for Aus test series and Pak match in WC. Probably it helps him get focused, he needs to find better ways for that though
