urbestfriend Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I'd have played Hoggy and Narine in every match irrespective of the pitch..They are canny bowlers who will do decent in all kinds of pitches..They missed the trick by not having them for few games, and played Chawal, Mahmood etc.

Switchblade Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Jacques Kallis defends inclusion of Azhar Mahmood for crucial tie against Rajasthan Royals http://www.cricketcountry.com/news/ipl-2015-jacques-kallis-defends-inclusion-of-azhar-mahmood-for-crucial-tie-against-rajasthan-royals-288012 “It was a tough call. There was some extra grass on the wicket and it looked like it would help the seamers a little bit extra. There was not too much for the spinners. We felt including him would give that extra seam action as well as lancing [strengthening] our batting in seaming conditions. It ended up being a really good wicket,” said Kallis at the post-match press conference last night. “It was a tough selection. Obviously the wicket here is more seam-friendly than spin friendly. Sunny [Narine] probably has not been the same bowler, has been under the spotlight. He is working hard in his action. He is probably not as effective as he was last season. It will take time,” Kallis said. “We can look back and say it all boils down to the fact that we did not take our chances in the previous two games against Chennai, which we should not have lost, and against Mumbai. Watto [shane Watson] came in and played a world class knock [104 not out in 59 balls] and put us under pressure,” Kallis said. “We have been a little bit inconsistent this season. We have not won enough away games. Last season, we were more consistent — whatever the reason. It has been a little bit disappointing. We have been pretty good or pretty bad nothing in the middle,” he said.
velu Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Kkr always underutilised their bowlErs. Like botha and bawla bowling one or two ovErs in many matcHes. When you have two allrounders in like shakib and Russell, its stupid to go with 4 bowlers. Should have picked tendo instead of azhar in the last game

A surprise selection of a 40 year old trundler probably shouldn't have been done in such a crucial match, but you couldn't have predicted that he would be trashed so badly. And it didn't look like a very spinner favorable pitch from the start, which probably led to the decision of playing another pacer instead of Hogg or Narine (although one of them probably should have been selected). I don't think it would have made a major difference. skindia Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 They lost 2 10-12 over matches due to rain....they are good for complete 20 overs matches...that 1 abandoned match played crucial part in the end Prev 1 2 Next Page 2 of 2 Share https://www.indiancricketfans.com/topic/91727-poor-team-selection-does-kkr-in/
