beetle Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 ^^^^Forget about change and stuff...how about getting punished for abuse.A guy uses obscence words to you...you get him punished. He used the online route and she shamed him on the same media...plus the law regarding this will take it's course. I do believe it will stop a lot of cowards who turn bully thinking they can get away.
rkt.india Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I have around 30 unknown friend requests pending of which 10 are females. I fail to understand why do people send friend request to unknown persons. One may harass anyone over fbook. On the topic blocking is enough for such things. Social sites like FB are the best way to know new people, make new friends, otherwise, you don't need an FB for friends you already know in life you and for such people who throw abuses and harasses girls, there are always security features available on FB or any such platform.

In this case because it is in media the police may act and send its team to darbhanga , but tell me how is it possible that already lack of resources police will send team to catch online harrassers all over India.majority of people always forget that we are living in third world country and not in some developed nation of Europe .So as the long the case is in media or belongs to some daughter of politicians , or powerful person , police is hardly going to act
shakib_hero Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 OP once again proves that he is the biggest dickhead in ICF. Someone needs to shut him in a box and throw that box in a swamp.

Why have laws then....this crime is punishable by the law. Blocking someone is not the answer...the sick pervert will just do it some place else.Is it okay for a person to say such things o women on their faces?Should that be punished? How about writing obscenity on walls ....should that be punished or should the victim just go and paint over it. So should people who are not related to politician or powerful people......not report crime thinking what is the use....?

In Western countries such things are extremely common and they are obviously going to occur on social media sites. Either you ignore it or you don't use the website. You can't go and report each one of these morons. So you are saying...let smaller crimes pass.Lets not catch thieves...just get better locks. Hurling slurs are people occurs in real life very frequently and is bound to occur online. The internet provides a lot of perceived anonymity causing there to be many such idiots. It isn't worth spending resources on catching people for committing such minor offenses.
hhunaeh Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 He doesn't get to harass her and also control the scale of her response , it is not like there is a agreed protocol in such cases, so she is free to escalate it as much as she wants

You can't go and report each one of these morons. Why not....? She did and the guy was crying .If enough people do it....it will become less. There are rules and strict ones. Harassment and bullying should be fought back. Some years back ,sexual harassment at work place was common and women were expected to bear with it or stay at home. With strict rules in place....Sexual harassment is not so common and not so blatant.Your saying ignore it or don't use website is the same as saying either bear with sexual harassment(which this is) or stay at home. This is barely a crime... Hurling slurs are people occurs in real life very frequently and is bound to occur online. Don't people get better locks, don't people keep security guards , don't people pay 10 times more amount to live in safe locality rather than place infested with crime . ? Also please tell a practical solution. Do you think if 1000 women will complaint about online abuse then police will send 1000 teams in different parts of country ? we are living in country with scarce resources , Police , govt will always give more importance to serious crimes rather than spending them to catch online abusers .

You are comparing online world with real world? Just go to sites like topix and see horrible abuses are thrown at people ,religious figures ,leaders countries etc if the abuses people write in online world will be said in real world then there are going to be communal riots , linguistic riots , regional riots etc. But in online world these things go unnoticed. . If online abuse is to become a crime like a real world then whole world need to be take different approach

So basically...forget about the thieves....they are too many...just get bigger locks, move out to more secure areas and gated communities and the ones who don't do it or can't do it should either be damned or just learn to ignore. There is a whole department of cyber crime(yes, this is a crime...) which is meant to deal with it.Let them deal with it..... And this business of serious crime Vs non serious crime is very dangerous because the definition varies from person to person. Some people even think a woman getting gang raped is not serious because she was out alone after all the remedy is simple, don't go out alone.,just like get bigger locks We have respected MPs who think 'boys will have fun' ...it is not serious...and another one who think stalking women is something every hot blooded man does. Your calling this non serious falls borderline in this same category. If people invade someones personal space and offend them repeatedly or sometimes even once ...it effects the victim .Not every one is strong enough to give it back or ignore. We are a country where girls commit suicide when they are being stalked or someone morphs their image because of the helplessness and shame they feel. Why should someone be allowed to make others feel that way for no reason? Why should someone be allowed to get away like this?

Hope to see more of these pervs getting exposed.

Cartoons are different and they are legally allowed .Besides...the offended parties too have the right to legal recourse and prove the offending party wrong in court ....and get them punished. Most often cartoons are just depicting reality and trying to prove them wrong can prove costlier for the politicians. Posting personal obscenities about someone is sexual harassment .

I know most of liberals will u turn and celebrate this thing as progressive and will not care about law
