releasing 92' date='000 Paki prisoners of war for free was a huge act of blunder[/quote'] it wasn't a blunder...it's called humanity, and this is what separates civilized societies from savages of past and current. these acts provide a good moral compass indicator for future generations.

After the genocide in Bangladesh the least we could have done to comfort the aggrieved families was to have war trials for these POWs. We let down the Bengalis by this act of ours.

Do you have any idea how many Bengalis(esp Bengali Hindus) were killed/raped during that time by the Pak army? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1971_Bangladesh_genocide Millions of refugees came over to India and never left. Not only BD, even India, especially West Bengal(who helplessly watched their relatives across the border mutilated) suffered greatly. End result we allowed the 90k POWs to walk away scot free. The Shimla Agreement in the immediate aftermath was a complete failure from India's point of view, we gained nothing from it and lost heavily, IMO the greatest failure in the history of Indian diplomacy. We were holding all the cards that time but couldn't even close the Kashmir border issue which was fairly achievable.

we did make them agree that Kashmir is a bilateral issue and will not be taken to international forums which is why it is not discussed globally and they cant make a whole drama abt it like muslims do for palestine

Monumental brain fart on India's part.
