zen Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 More reviews: Unoriginal, amateurish, sub-par execution, anachronism galore - just bad. 1/10 Author: mrgprxtn 3 August 2015 *** This review may contain spoilers *** It is rightly said that only an artist can paint the sky red. And what Rajamouli proves amply in this movie is that he is no artist. He is at best an efficient Project Manager who can get the job done. There is not one shot in the movie that is either not a poor imitation of something from Hollywood or a juvenile attempt at being creative. The story and plot are as hackneyed as the dialogues and the acting is sub-par to say the least. And then there is the serious problem of the story setting lacking any sense of time and space. no attempt is made to even suggest where or when the story is set. On the one hand, the character names, place names and costumes suggest a southern Indian setting, but then there's plenty of snow capped peaks thrown in. I don't recall the last time that any part of South India had snow, let along snow capped peaks. The names Bhallala, Bijjala, Bahubali, Kuntala etc., suggest a northern Karnataka setting circa 11th -13th centuries AD. but then the hero breaks into a bhangra style dance when he's happy. and then at the installation of the statue, we have dancers performing tribal dances and Bharatanatya complete with Karnataka music. and then the Russian 'item' dancers are doing a mix of bollywood and samba. Unless this movie was set in 2015, there is no explaining of how all these art forms exist alongside each other. Of course, I'm sure the fanbois will be able to contrive something to explain it away. then there is the question of where anushka (bahubali's imprisoned mother) is getting those twigs from. she is shown to be chained to a cage in the middle of the palace quadrangle with not a tree in sight. but somehow she's managed to gather enough twigs for a funeral pyre. and of course, don't even get me started on the seriously amateurish work that has gone into her makeup. then there is the question of snow capped trees complete with green leaves. apparently, this took place on some planet where trees don't shed leaves in winters. and then don't ask me how all the mountains of snow that were there on the way into Mahishmathi vanished overnight and became rocky wasteland by the time bahubali makes a quick getaway with his long-lost mother. and then there's the niggling fact that bahubali's adoptee mother Sanga does not seem to have aged one bit in the 25-30 years that have surely passed between the time she adopted the baby to the time bahubali grows up and runs off into Mahishmathi. VFX -- The VFX in the movie is something the fanbois can't stop singing about. Sure, the VFX has its moments.. but overall, it is a juvenile attempt. Practically every action sequence is a thinly veiled copy of something from Hollywood. this movie may be the first of its kind in Indian cinema to explore this hitherto unexplored genre, but make no mistake, this is far far far from the best that Indian cinema has to offer. As far as the quality of the movie goes, this borders on a mockery of good cinema. This may be the first of its kind in Indian cinema, but it is equally one of the worst of its kind in the history of cinema. Being the first of its kind in Indian cinema is hardly an achievement and this movie has no redeeming qualities beyond that whatsoever. the movie is riddled with serious and niggling lapses every step of the way. it would be too tiring to even list each one of them. All those rating this at 9 and 10 stars clearly know nothing about quality cinema or have never watched anything beyond the average telugu fare. this is simply stereotypical telugu fare with the flying Tata Sumos replaced by horses and chariots. I wish there was some way to get my time and money back. Worst movie ever!!! 1/10 Author: sashikanthvr from United States 2 August 2015 *** This review may contain spoilers *** Raja mouli made this film with worst screenplay and with boring songs he extended the story as well....even the actors have not played there part well.....this director is known for copying many scenes to his movies from Hollywood and he has done a very good job in copying in this movie too..now when i come to lead actor prabas personality can never be a bahubali because he has a big drawback with his girl like voice ....Irritating songs lengthy fights, no dialogues, ending was worst...every people from India knows that its a boring movie...lot of people from Andra are making the publicity out of regional courtesy...and there are some other people who like it because lot of money(black money) was spent on this movie...and some other sheep's are making the real good effort to make the producers rich...what i would suggest to every movie loving guy is don't waste your money or time on this movie(one thing if you have lot of money and time to waste go for it sheep's) i hope many review has been helpful to people with a real good taste in movies... thanks guys..keep rocking Worst commercial crap I have seen in years. 1/10 Author: Abin George from India 7 August 2015 A truly overrated movie with a wafer thin plot, which has nothing more than underdeveloped CG to keep the ordinary masses stick to their seats.I would even call it a chick flick, with many inappropriate scenes and bad characterisation. It feels bad that the crew has wasted such a lot of money to make this crap which gives you an incomplete feeling when you get out of the theatre...The hero is given superhuman capabilities, while he is still human. The movie gives you a totally incomplete feeling when you get out of the show.Bahubali just a highly overrated crap guys. You guys could rather buy a DVD copy of troy and watch it sitting at your home instead of wasting you time watching this total disaster. Disappointed with fake review. 1/10 Author: k_i_n_g from India 21 July 2015 Yeah. Movie is good. Graphic and direction is good. But its not good as much as given rating. It's typically Indian average movie with rating 5. Climax is missing. Not an good end, too much lengthy.. Suspense is good but not in coherence. Waste of time. Indian cinema loosing their value in world cinema.. Wake up and create a movie based on true event and show reality.. By the way its a progressive animation it this movie.. don't give fake rating.. It's will create bad image on Bollywood and entire country. Honestly I dislike this movie. But I want appreciate director. Movie show a effort.. Hope one day Bollywood create a project like Hollywood.. ....
Kalia_Test Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 Padmashri, Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Academy Award winner Sir Kavinger Vairamuthu ( he is not Telugu ) letter to Rajamouli sir on Bahubali... This is more than any award that anyone can get. Vairamuthu sir loves Bahubali. The team will be overjoyed at this " Tomorrow your name will be inscribed as the Indian cinema's address to the world. I'm feeling proud of you while my lips murmur ' here comes one among us to compete with the rest of the world' A single movie for a director. A giant leap for Indian cinema :hatsoff:

At least discussing the movie with Bahubali fans is more entertaining than watching the movie itself :nice: So what's next - are you going to talk about how almost every film has males, females, landscapes, houses, rooms, telephones, etc.
Kalia_Test Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 http://www.glamsham.com/movies/news/15/aug/its-a-month-now-and-s-s-rajamoulis-bahubali-still-going-packed-houses.asp It was a lazy weekend. So I came up with an idea of a movie outing with my family. After a brief discussion, we zeroed in on S S Rajamouli's magnum opus BAHUBALI, which has already done enormous business, smashed all the records and still keeping the cash registers ringing in at the BO. Although it was the second time I was catching up the movie, but my zest was no less than a kid to experience a larger-than-life film on the big screen all over again. Though we merrily stepped out for BAHUBALI, I secretly even presumed that we might not get any shows, as it's been over a month that the film released. Moreover, in contemporary times (the ever-so-fast-moving-life) you hardly find any Bollywood movie enjoying such a long run in theatres. But it was a welcoming surprise, when we figured out that BAHUBALI is still ruling the roost at cinema halls! We could list down a number of cinemas which are still successfully running BAHUBALI on their screens (not one but with two or more shows). Further, when we settled for a nearby multiplex, I was taken aback only to discover that the show is packed, all the tickets were sold out and we were late by a few minutes. So we proceeded for another cineplex (travelling in the heavy rains around 15 kms to a suburban mall), but made sure to book tickets well in advance this time around for a late night show, after the first experience. Luckily, we got the tickets and what was amazing was the show was houseful yet again! We reached the mall way before time. While there was considerable time for the show (9.30) to begin, we chilled out at the food court and being an industry person that I am, (out of the inquisitiveness) indulged into a conversation with the folks present there. It was pretty astonishing to know that they hardly knew about the cast or the actors of the film. All they were interested was to check out the movie as they had heard some great reviews about BAHUBALI and its well-etched characters. Strange as it may sound for all those who go gaga over stars, but the movie buffs barely cared if BAHUBALI was a Shah Rukh or Salman outing. Also Read - BAHUBALI Movie Review After having a hearty chat, I could relate how the story, script and the characters of the film play an integral part for the moviegoers than just having starry faces. A big lesson that should be taken into account by our over-zealous filmfakers. As I began to explore the magnificent work of Rajamouli, it was also a delight to witness how the patrons went berserk, hooted and cheered every time the protagonist ‘Baahubali' came on the screen and the edge-of-the-seat actions, something that we used to experience till early 2000 for the Bollywood movies. Not only this, but even as I was leaving the hall, I could hear how people were raving about the movie. We indeed appreciate and applaud for all the efforts taken by director Rajamouli and his team. And just can't wait to catch the conclusion in 2016. In fact, the curiosity level has increased by multifold as to why Katappa killed Baahubali? Rajamouli and all the other people associated with BAHUBALI must certainly feel rewarded to give the declining Indian Cinema a new boost! Kudos to the team for achieving a feat like this!
The Outsider Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 While you forgot that roop ki rani choro ka raja was a disaster. Too Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja would have been a hit if it was released under today's model of maximizing profit in the first two weeks. Current tickets to the movie were available only week 5 onwards, before that it was all advance booking. In today's release and production model pretty much every movie which has a huge budget ends up making a profit regardless of the quality. I haven't watched Bahubali and it might be making money because it is genuinely good, but only pointing out the fallacy of your argument of comparing its revenue model with RKRCKR.
zen Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 B4d6zUIxfes Netflix spent $90M to produce Marco Polo for 10 episodes iirc, for $9M per episode, and watching them is a better idea .... Spartacus is more engaging too 4WXDJPaHuR4

I didn't see much graphics in the series except may be when they trebuchets.
zen Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Really comparing movie to series. That too which always takes in a tent or a room where the fat king sits. I didn't see much graphics in the series except may be when they trebuchets. Why not? Many products not only compete with their direct competition but also with substitutes. For e.g. say if you are launching a new train service, then your competition is not only other train services, but also many of the other modes of transportation Similarly, entertainment lovers who like period dramas have the option to see series such as Marco Polo, Spartacus, etc. at probably $0 variable cost (assuming Netflix, internet connection, etc. as fixed costs). The price of a movie ticket approx. = 2 months of Netflix subscription where you could watch Marco Polo ($90M budget), Spartacus, etc. (which are more engaging products) .... so why waste your money on a crappy product :dontknow: Graphics would be used where it is needed .... for e.g. even in a room with the "fat king" seating around the green screen or one could create a set (depending upon the direction the movie/series maker wants to take) .... It is how impressive the overall product is that matters in the end

Yes, it is certainly a case but for movie which public did not like. They dont go on to become super hits For example, look at Bombay Velvet, 90 crore budget but proved to be the biggest disaster in recent years. It didn't do even half of its business. Films likes Ra.One, Tees Mar Khan did start well in their first week found it difficult to survive later and recover their cost. None of the two are super hits. but Also, here comparison is with Bahubali, which is still surviving after more than a month, so, in Bahubali's case, it is not just because of commercial model. It is hindi dubbed version has alone done over 100 crores in a month and has left Robot miles behind which did 23 crores in Hindi dubbed version. There must be something that people liked about it. Same with Roop ki rani, it might have had a good start, but people hadnt liked it, it would not have gone that far.
zen Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Well then Cameroon Also copied MGR's Ayirathil Oruvan in Titanic. Also True fact #copying is natural after all And Ayirathil Oruvan was inspired/copied from Captain Blood :winky: MXb1QqmrRNc Copying (getting inspired as some say) is OK as long as you are able to mix your original ideas as well (or the film becomes a remake) .... It is ridiculous to see a film that has most of the scenes taken from somewhere
