I would suggest you to buy XB-400.. The sponge is supersoft and you won't feel like you are wearing it. Probably seconds or local make with poor build quality may be available for that price. Noise cancellation headphones are cheaper in US. Even there you can't get at that price.

I suggest you to get the demo before buying. Trust me nothing comes close to Bose. Bose > light years > sennheiser > sony.. I bought Bose QC 15 for 17k ( price was 19k and got 2k diwali discount ) , later the price got increased to 21k. Now Bose QC25 is available which is even better than QC15, which costs around 21k. Initially i went to buy Bose AE headset , then got a demo of QC15. Decided to try noise cancellaton headset and explored all before settling with QC15.

zen Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Talking about headphones in general, one brand to consider is AKG for those who generally prefer their music to be neutral (not biased towards base or treble or vocals, etc.) For many AKG headphone you may be required to break them in (many leave continuously running for 100 hours or so on a music system) .... Once broken in, they are simply superb .... For their top of the line models, you may need to use amplifiers to truly enjoy them And they look beautiful too (a subjective topic). From my limited knowledge, Bose is good with rock and heavy metal and do suppress lots of frequency. As far as sound quality is concerned , brands like audio techicia's 12 or 13k headset will be better than 25k bose headset. But another good aspect of Bose is , it is very very comfortable for listening to longer duration. I was using senheiser momentum headset and it was bit uncomfortable after 1 hr. And bose headsets doesnt look messy.

Just that Bose has established its brand. Audiophiles don't rate Bose. That is not even coming into the picture of discussion.

Noise Isolation does not need external circuitry. It effectively blocks out external noise from entering ear. Noise cancellation is letting more noise than a noise isolation phone and then using the circuitry to cancel out. In some situation former is better. In some later. Depending on the amount of noise. IF the atmospheric sound is not hard like Airplane , it wouldn't hurt to go with noise isolation phone as it does its work naturally without any additional circuitry.
